For those unaware, the duo began dating in 2023 after meeting on the set of Wicked and later went their separate ways after three years of being together. Meanwhile, Ethan’s ex-wife, Lilly Jay, had claimed that she was ‘blindsided’ by the actor filing for divorce. Many had believed that now that Ariana and Ethan have broken up, he and Lily would rekindle their romance; however, that does not seem to be the case.

Ever since Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater broke up, fans had been claiming that the latter would get back together with his ex-wife, Lilly Jay. However, sources close to Lilly revealed to TMZ that, irrespective of the rumor spreading like wildfire, there is no truth in it.
In fact, they claimed that Lilly and Ethan would “absolutely not” have any romantic reconciliation anytime soon. Making things clearer, the sources added that even the actor is not trying to get back with her at the moment.
Ethan and Lily's split had grabbed all the headlines when the former went public with Ariana. This was especially the case when the actor filed for divorce; it was just a few weeks after Lilly had given birth to his son. This made Ethan face severe backlash. When Lilly was asked about her ex-husband’s bond with the pop star after her divorce, she had claimed that Ariana wasn't a “girl’s girl.”
Since their relationship became public, she said that her family had become “collateral damage.” Lilly also mentioned that her main focus after her divorce will be to take care of her son and become the best mom. In her words:
"[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage. As for me, days with my son are sunny. Days when I can’t escape the promotion of a movie associated with the saddest days of my life are darker."
Reports at the time claimed that Lilly’s comments raised eyebrows not only among fans, but also allegedly left Ethan Slater super surprised. Allegedly, when the former couple talked about this matter, Lilly claimed that she didn't realize the things she said would be on the record.
At present, the clear thing is that people are confusing her and Ethan’s connection as co-parents to be something more. The sources revealed that the duo, who were childhood sweethearts, have remained connected through their family responsibilities. They also added that their relationship is strictly about co-parenting.

After Ethan and Lilly split, rumors were rampant about how the former cheated on his ex-wife with Ariana Grande. He was hit with allegations of abandonment and insensitivity. This led the Thank U, Next singer to directly address the cheating rumours and come to Ethan’s defence. She claimed that the tabloid narratives were all “bullshit” and completely false.
In a conversation with Vanity Fair, Ariana hit back at the backlash by stating that celebrity gossip was an easy source of money for tabloids. She believed that the “negativity” such reports spread was completely unnecessary. Referring to her closeness with Ethan, she said that she underwent “a lot of life changes” while working together on Wicked. In her words:
"It definitely doesn't get any easier, seeing some of the negativity that was birthed by disreputable tabloids. Of course, I went through a lot of life changes during the filming of this movie [Wicked]. A lot of people that were working on it did. We were away for two years. So, of course, I understand why it was a field day for the tabloids to sort of create something that paid their bills."
