However, the singer's last straw came when hackers started breaking into the digital accounts of producers and photographers trying to get their hands on some unreleased content. And now, the singer has taken some stern legal actions against the alleged hackers.
Ariana Grande sues the hackers
Ariana Grande has had enough of people trying to cause her harm by hacking into the digital accounts of people she has worked with, intending to steal and leak unreleased music, private photos, and videos. According to a report by TMZ, the I Hate That I Made You Love Me singer filed a lawsuit in California on Monday, July 27, 2026 (ET) against several unnamed individuals, hoping the legal action will uncover who is behind the alleged breaches.
According to the filing obtained by the media outlet, Ariana Grande has alleged that the hackers' actions were not an isolated incident. The singer claimed that she has repeatedly faced cyberattacks throughout her career, including recently. The 7 Rings singer claimed that the stolen material included unreleased songs, photos, video, and audio recordings tied to her creative process, none of which was intended for public consumption.
Ariana Grande's filing further alleged that the hackers then sold her personal data and content on the dark web for "significant sums of money". The singer alleged that these leaks have caused her "substantial and irreparable harm."

The news outlet has further revealed that the suit targets up to 100 John Does, including the alleged hackers, people and businesses accused of helping distribute the stolen material, and even those allegedly shopping it to potential buyers or purchasing it. Ariana Grande has urged a judge to stop the alleged theft and distribution, while also sending a warning to would-be hackers.
According to PEOPLE, Ariana Grande is suing the John Does for 'Malicious Invasion' of Privacy. The complaint alleges that "in 2023 alone, 45 unreleased songs belonging to Ms. Grande were hacked, stolen, and leaked by Defendants...Since her music debut in 2011, hundreds of similar leaks have taken place." The singer's lawyer also noted that the singer is initiating legal action to uncover the identities of the alleged hackers. A source told the news outlet:
"The lawsuit is intended to serve as a deterrent against future acts of this nature — not only targeting Ariana, but also the many artists who have faced similar invasions of their privacy and theft of their creative work. Artists deserve the right to control how and when their art is shared with the world. The unlawful theft and distribution of creative work undermines that right and should not be tolerated."
Previously, during an appearance on the Zach Sang Show two years ago in 2024 to promote Eternal Sunshine, Ariana Grande hinted that she would be holding leakers accountable. The singer reflected on the leak of her 2023 song Fantasize and revealed that the song's producer, Max Martin, has been an incredible friend despite the fiasco. She said:
"Before I left for Wicked — a few studio sessions that I did which are all over TikTok, thank you so much, I'll see you in jail. Literally. Those were all written for a TV show, for something that was not for me, so 'Fantasize' comes out, crazy, was stolen...these pirates, crooks, illegal!"
