When it comes to their newborn daughter, Vamika, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have left no stone unturned to keep her away from the limelight. Even after the birth of Vamika, the couple had asked the paparazzi and media to not click their baby girl and promised them the content of theirs but not their daughter's. Paparazzi too, had respected Virat and Anushka’s request for their daughter’s privacy and the same was seen when for the first time, the newbie parents were clicked outside a clinic after a check-up session of their newborn. By not clicking their daughter, paparazzi captured beautiful pictures of the newbie parents, Virat and Anushka, who had happily posed for the shutterbugs and thanked them later for understanding their request.
But looks like the scenario has changed now as on March 21, 2021, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were snapped by the paparazzi at Ahmedabad and Pune airport, as the couple travelled with other members of the Indian cricket team and their families, for another schedule. In the pictures captured by one of their fans at the Ahmedabad airport, Anushka tightly held Vamika in her arms and Virat followed them, holding the luggage and a baby carrycot. In a video shot by the paparazzi of the team members entering the airport, Vamika can be seen hidden with a white cloth, cuddled in Anushka’s arms. In another video from Pune, after the team landed, Anushka and Virat can be seen carrying their luggage and baby Vamika was in her carrier cot, which was held by the doting daddy.
On the pictures and videos, while Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli were appreciated for travelling without nannies and entourage, setting the right example, some netizens have also expressed their concern over the couple’s request for privacy of their daughter, Vamika. The netizens have slammed the paparazzi for not obliging to Anushka and Virat’s request for their newborn’s privacy and were reminded how the couple had sent them gift hampers for understanding their point. Remember on What Women Want, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sharmila Tagore had expressed their concern on the media attention on Taimur Ali Khan and the latter had said that once Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma will have a child, baby Tim will be relegated? Media attention on babies concerns every celeb parent but Virat and Anushka had already made a decision on the same before the birth of their daughter. Unequivocal about retaining a sense of normalcy and privacy, Anushka had said, “We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through.”
Post Vamika’s birth, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma had sent gift hampers to the paparazzi fraternity in Mumbai, urging them to respect their daughter’s privacy. Expressing their gratitude, the couple had written in their note, "As parents, we have a simple request to make to you. We want to protect the privacy of our child and we need your help and support. While, we will always ensure that you get all the content you need featuring us, we would request you to kindly not take or carry any content that has our child. We know that you will understand where we are coming from and we thank you for the same."
