Heartbreaks and separations are sadly one of the most frequent stages of personal life often seen in Bollywood actors. However, while some of these rise a notch higher and involve open media discussions between the two parties, there are some other couples who choose to deal with this crucial point in their lives in privacy. Moreover, there are also a few of them who take the decision to part in a positive way and end their relationship mutually without any hard feelings. One such couple is that of Apara Mehta and Darshan Jariwala.
Being eminent actors, Apara and Darshan met during their theatre days and love blossomed between the two. Apara, 18 and Darshan, 21, were young lovers back then and decided to waste no time to be united to one another. They culminated their relationship in a small wedding ceremony in 1980. But a year later, the duo tied the knot again only to satisfy their parent’s wish of a grand wedding ceremony. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Khushali Mehta.

While everything appeared to go smoothly for the couple, they hit a rough patch by 2004 when they started to live separately. Reportedly, Darshan was the first one to move out of their Mumbai home in Santacruz and put up separately in Andheri.
Interestingly, while the couple might have divided their hearts and ended their marital bliss, they never wanted the impact of their personal troubles to affect their daughter, Khushali. Therefore, it was their daughter who kept them in mutual contact with one another. Moreover, they also reportedly wanted to give their relationship a second chance for the sake of their daughter and so also began living together back again for a small duration despite their recurring marital problems.
This was not the first time that the doting parents desired to keep aside their personal problems so that their daughter would not have to suffer. For instance, right after the birth of their daughter, both Apara and Darshan had decided that they would not work together anymore, such that either of them always stays back with their daughter. A source close to the couple once mentioned:
“After the birth of their daughter Khushali, they did not work together anymore. This is because they had decided that one of them would be there to look after their daughter. Both of them made an effort to keep Khushali away from their problems. Their daughter is one of the reasons why they are thinking of getting back together.”

Unlike most couples who turn bitter enemies post their separation, Darshan and Apara were completely different as they chose to honour their friendship in the least while their marriage had failed. Proof of the same was found when Darshan was the first person to rush and stand beside Apara after her father’s death in 2007. Since he was quite close to her father, he made sure to be there for them. A report once mentioned Darshan’s presence with the Mehra family as:
“Darshan was very close to Apara's father. On the particular day, Darshan got very emotional and both of them were constantly messaging each other.”
With such a good bonding between the estranged couple even after their separation, their fans widely speculated about their union being highly possible. In fact, it was Apara herself who had once hinted that she would love to get back together with Darshan, as there was never a speck of animosity between them. In her words:
“We have always remained the best of friends and there has been no animosity between us. I would love to get back together. I won't say anything beyond this now.”
Fast forward to today, though the couple are not legally divorced, they live and have put up separately and continue to remain the best of friends.
