Anshula Kapoor Became Outcast, Being In 1st Standard As Boney's Marriage With Sridevi Became Public
Anshula Kapoor once revealed that she felt like an outcast at age 4, when she was in first standard, because Boney and her mom Mona's marriage ended due to his romantic relationship with Sridevi.

In the late 1990s, divorce was not that much of a common and regular thing, and given that both Boney and Sridevi were public figures, the entire episode of their affair and marriage used to constantly dominate the headlines. The reason was that Boney was an already married man with kids. While they had to face a tough time, it was the filmmaker's kids who went through a tough time too. Anshula Kapoor, Boney and Mona's daughter, once spoke about the toll the entire episode took on her.
Anshula Kapoor felt like an outcast when Boney Kapoor and Sridevi's marriage became public
Anshula Kapoor was just 4 years old and in her first standard when Boney and Sridevi's marriage became a public topic, making her life extremely tough. Speaking to Nayandeep Rakshit, Anshula Kapoor shared that she felt there was a drastic shift in the way other school children and some families were behaving towards her.
Anshula mentioned that it was a tough time for her to be in the school, as she could vividly remember that there were some families who simply didn't want to associate with her or any friction related to the Kapoors. Anshula was young, and for someone who is of that age, it's natural that they would have friends and go to each other's houses; however, it was the opposite for Anshula, which made her feel like an outcast. Speaking about the same, Anshula said:
"I was in the first standard, and what started happening was there were families who didn’t want to associate with what was happening in our lives. They didn’t want their children to come into our house, and be part of any friction. In the 90s, you went to some child’s house after school, right? I remember that there was a drastic shift in the way that my classmates were behaving towards me, and the way that their families were behaving towards me. It was a very emotional and a very confusing time to be in school."

Speaking about why Boney and Sridevi's relationship back then grabbed attention, Anshula revealed that in the 90s people thought that getting divorced had something to do with charecters, and while their family always was rooted in traditions like one marriage and family for the rest of the life, when Boney chose to do something other than that it instantly became a wide topic of discussion, especially because he was linked to one of the talented actresses of that time.
Anshula stated that if Boney was associated with someone who wasn't a public figure, it might have been easier for them. She also said that Boney was absent from their lives, and the reality of this change at this age, along with a lack of social access, was extremely difficult for her. Anushla had her mom, brother and cousin to rely on; however, this took a toll on her. She could be quoted as saying:
"More than this, there was the confusion of not having dad at home, ever. Trying to deal with the reality of the family axis having shifted, and then not having any social access was very difficult. But I had mom, I had Arjun bhaiya, I had my cousins. Now, we’re a lot more open-minded. Because of the partner that dad chose, unfortunately or fortunately, it became a lot more public, because they were both public figures. Had they not been that public, it would’ve been easier for us to deal with."
