It was the presence of Anshula’s half-sisters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, that made the day unforgettable for Anshula.
But do you know Anshula Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor’s bond with Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor wasn’t always rosy. The half-siblings maintained a cordial distance with one another before Sridevi’s death. They were not even seen together in public. But after Sridevi’s death in 2018, their relationship changed suddenly, and they became each other’s greatest strength.
Anshula Kapoor once candidly spoke about her bond with Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor and how their relationship changed post Sridevi’s death. In a chat with The Quint, Anshula revealed that she and Arjun reached out to Janhvi and Khushi right after their mom’s death in 2018 since they didn’t want the girls to go through the same ordeal she and Arjun went through when their mom, Mona Shourie, passed away in 2012.
Anshula revealed that it was a conscious decision on her and Arjun’s part to be available for Janhvi and Khushi, since they were very young and had to navigate their emotions on their own. Anshula also admitted that when they connected in 2018, it was like a blank slate and took them some time to bond. Speaking of the same, she said:
“We don’t want them to navigate this situation alone because they were much younger than what we were when our mom died. They had to go through the same beats when they were 17 and 20. That’s young, we reached out to them to support them.”
Boney Kapoor got married to Mona Shourie in 1983, and soon the couple welcomed two children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. However, Boney got so smitten by actress, Sridevi and he couldn’t help but fall in love with her. Boney never hid his love for Sridevi from his wife, but his growing closeness with Sridevi shattered Mona’s marital bliss. After 13 years of marriage, Boney and Mona parted ways, and he married Sridevi. They later welcomed two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
After Boney Kapoor and Mona Shourie divorced, Anshula blamed herself. She thought that it was because of her that her parents parted ways. In a throwback interview with Pinkvilla, Anshula spoke about her feelings as a six-year-old, which became more apparent after Janhvi was born. In her words:
“As a 6-year-old I thought before me, their life was all hunky dory and I came to their life and suddenly they don’t belong together. I thought, maybe, I was not a good enough daughter. I think that became more apparent after–and I know it sounds horrible–Jaanu (Janhvi Kapoor) was born because I was like maybe, something was wrong with me.”
