Angelina Jolie's Father, Jon Voight Wants To See Daughter For One Last Time, 'Sick To Death...'

Angelina Jolie has hogged the limelight for the past couple of days, especially after her and ex-husband, Brad Pitt’s eldest son, Maddox, decided to file legal documents to officially drop “Pitt” from his surname. This has brought fresh attention to Angelina and Brad’s relationship and their messy split. Well, it seems that Maddox is following in his mother's footsteps, as Angelina too once dropped “Voight”, which is her father, Jon Voight's surname, from her name owing to their rocky relationship. However, it seems that despite this, Jon is pleading to see the actress one last time before she flees America.

For those unaware, Angelina Jolie is planning to leave Los Angeles for good. Reportedly, she is selling her LA mansion and moving abroad now that her youngest children, twins, Knox and Vivienne, are about to turn 18, although her final destination is yet to be revealed. Amid this news, Angelina Jolie's elderly father, Jon Voight, fears that he will never get to see his daughter again, leaving their rocky relationship unresolved, as per a source for RadarOnline.com.

The source revealed that Angelina and Jon barely speak or see each other these days. While this has been going on for many years, it is not reportedly due to the lack of effort on Jon's part. The source claimed that Jon still checks in with birthday and holiday messages. He also asks about her kids and hopes that they will be able to one day put their differences aside and spend some quality time together. However, the rift between Jon and Angelina is not something that can be resolved so easily, especially since it goes back decades. It all began in 2002 when Jon told an interviewer that Angelina “had serious mental problems”. This prompted Angelina to drop “Voight” from her name. 

While the duo did reconcile for a brief period, Angelina cut him off once again. This was after Jon spoke to the press about her and her children, “which proves how seriously she protects her privacy,” as per a source. Some believe that their rift might also be caused by their completely different political views. Reportedly, while Jon is a proud supporter of President Donald Trump and a staunch defender of Israel, Angelina is an unbiased liberal. According to the source:

“It breaks his heart that he hasn't built a meaningful relationship with the grandkids, but more than anything, he misses Angie desperately, and so this movie is hitting him hard.”

The same source for RadarOnline.com revealed that with Angelina about to leave Hollywood in a few days, Jon is pleading to see her one last time. According to them, even though Jon realises that Angelina is ready for this new chapter, he cannot understand how she can be so cold towards her own father. The insider was quoted as saying:

“He's pleading with her to see him one last time before fleeing Hollywood. He gets that she's sick to death of the rat race and ready for new pastures. But what he doesn't understand – and a lot of people in his world, Angie's brother, James Haven, included – is why she’s being so coldhearted toward her poor old dad.”

Speculations about Angelina Jolie leaving Los Angeles began back in August 2024, when, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said that she lives there “because I have to be here from a divorce.” The actress admitted:

“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be…that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here. I'll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I'll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.”
