It’s hard to believe that this 26-year-old actress had made her debut in Bollywood just seven years back and there has been no looking back for her ever since. On March 15, 2019, Alia Bhatt a.k.a. Aaloo for her family and friends, turned 26 and celebrated her special day amongst people who matter to her the most. Apart from her parents, Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, her boyfriend and Brahmastra co-star, Ranbir Kapoor, Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji, designer Masaba Gupta, BFF's Anushka Ranjan and Akanksha Ranjan, mentor Karan Johar amongst others, ringed in Alia Bhatt’s birthday and made it even more special.
The birthday girl, Alia Bhatt was dressed in a floral printed dress, grinned from ear-to-ear as she cut her multiple birthday cakes while the gathering sang the birthday song. Alia had cut three birthday cakes and as she blew out the candles, her father, Mahesh Bhatt held back her hair from catching fire. Alia’s mother, Soni Razdan was also seen singing the birthday song for her.
Masaba Gupta posted a photo from the birthday bash wherein the birthday girl gets cuddles from her girl squad, Masaba, Anushka and Akanksha Ranjan and Atiya. She captioned it, “You were pure magic since we were babies .... and you continue to be pure magic.... Happy birthday Alu”. Alia Bhatt’s mother, Soni Razdan too shared a photo with her daughter and wrote, “Happy Happy Birthday sweet Alia ... your light is shining brighter each day ... wish you all the light love and the bestest best of the rest in you life. Mahesh Bhatt posted a photo with Alia Bhatt and wrote, “Sunshine mixed with a bit of magic. Happy Birthday Alia.” He also shared a childhood video of her in which baby Alia is seen sitting on top of him while he sings the birthday song for her. He captioned the video as, “Some memories do not wither with time. Happy birthday Alia”.
On Alia Bhatt’s birthday, her mom, Soni Razdan talked about her daughter’s birthday, her success and how her choices in films are working well. Speaking about Alia’s birthday, the proud mother said, "We are all happy. Her birthday is always a time to celebrate and she has a lot to celebrate. Her birthday is always a special occasion. At this moment in her life, she has a lot to celebrate. She had a successful film, she has another release coming up soon. So, it's all very exciting and we are looking forward to a very interesting year ahead as she will be working with her dad. As it is something very special and she just signed a film with SS Rajamouli which is a big announcement. Kalank is releasing and it is looking absolutely beautiful. So obviously, for her, this is like a kind of a special time."
When asked, “What are her thoughts on Alia's successful graph of films?”, Soni Razdan replied, "She is my daughter, so I don't want to keep praising her. I think that what she is doing is good and she should continue doing it. Not only she chooses great films, but great films are also choosing her, interesting roles are also coming to her. She is coming to an interesting time in the industry which is ready for actresses like Alia who are doing different things. I think all actresses today are now wanting to do different things."
The No Fathers in Kashmir star further added, "On one level, I also feel lucky that she is coming from this time where there are very one-dimensional roles for women. For example, her character in Gully Boy is such a wonderful character. It's such a role model for young girls. Earlier, nobody wrote such characters. So, you also need somebody who can write characters like that and also somebody who can play them. So she happens to be one person who is able to play these roles. And that's great for her. I hope she keeps on getting better as she is only 26 and as she grows older, she will get better and does more work. As a mom, I am looking forward to it."
Expressing her views on Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film, Kalank, Soni Razdan shared her reaction, "Wow, I haven't seen anything further than the teaser. But, it's really like a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film in the kinds of appearance, grandeur and the creation of the era. What a spectacle!" Revealing Alia’s favourite performance till date, Soni remarked, "It's difficult to say really because there are so many good performances she has given. But, I would definitely say I like all of them but probably her performance in Highway, Dear Zindagi, Udta Punjab, Raazi and Gully Boy stands out. I really have been impressed with her."
When asked about her thoughts on Alia Bhatt finally working with her dad, Mahesh Bhatt in Sadak 2, Soni Razdan replied, "I am happy for her as Mahesh is a fabulous director. I always thought that somebody like Alia Bhatt has not got a chance to work with a talent like a dad. He has the ability to bring out a lot of substance from a performer and also actors love him. He got the ability and then you become better as an actor when you work with a director like him."
Signing off with a birthday wish for her 26-year-old daughter, Alia Bhatt, Soni Razdan stated, "I would like to wish her good health and keep a calm head on her shoulder when she goes through crazy life that she goes through. So, I just want her to be healthy, get enough sleep and balance head on her should. Then she can manage the life she is living."
