Akshay Kumar is an actor, who doesn’t need an introduction. The most sought-after superstar in Bollywood, he has swooned millions of audiences with his power-packed performances to date. Be it action sequences, dance performances to impactful dialogues, Akshay’s talents are unending. Currently, he is busy with the promotions of his latest film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and during the same, Khiladi Kumar revealed an unheard anecdote from his life.
In a recent interaction with Curly Tales, Akshay Kumar talked about a time in his life when he, as a mere teenager, was set out to work and earn a living. The star revealed he earned his first paycheck in Calcutta (now Kolkata), where he used to work in a travel agency. Akshay confessed that he wasn’t much educated back at the time, and the only kind of work he got his hands on were those of working as an errand boy. In his words:
“I received my first earning/pay cheque when I was working with a travel agency in Calcutta. Yes, errand boy. My salary there was somewhere between Rs 150 to Rs 200. It was somewhere in 1984, and I might be around 15-16 years old. When a person is not educated, he will of course strive and do something. This was the only job that I got. After that I went to Dhaka, there was a hotel there. Then I went to Bangkok, then Delhi. I worked in Delhi. I used to sell artificial jewellery in Delhi. I used to purchase jewellery in Delhi and sell it here in Bombay. If I got the jewellery for Rs 20,000, I used to sell for Rs 24,000.”

Previously, in an interaction with Ranveer Allahbadia, Akshay Kumar made a rare comment about his personal life. For the unversed, he is married to Twinkle Khanna, and the couple is blessed with a son and a daughter. In the podcast, Akshay spoke about the multiple breakups he dealt early on in his life and shared how he used to get over them. He said:
“Mere sath jab break-up hua tha, 2-3 baar hua hai, I used to exercise more. Channelise it. Because there was so much anger, so you have to channelise it. I got into working out more. Khana bhi daba ke khana tha. I think that is the way a martial artist would deal with a break-up. I believe that is the only way we understand it.”
In the same interaction, Akshay Kumar revisited his childhood and recalled the humble and mundane life he used to live during back in the days. The handsome hunk revealed that he used to live in a 2BHK apartment that his parents had rented for Rs. 500. Cut to now, he mentioned his desire of purchasing that home once more. He also added how he still visits the place quite a few times, so as to refresh fond memories.

Back on April 2, 2024, Akshay Kumar’s better half, Twinkle Khanna dropped a candid snapshot of herself with her husband, wherein the duo were seen enjoying a dinner date together.
