On Ajay Devgn's 51st birthday last year, Kajol's sister, Tanishaa Mukerji had penned down a heartfelt birthday wish for her ‘superhero brother-in-law’. Sharing some unseen pictures with Ajay, Tanishaa had written, “Happy birthday Jay! Have a lovely quarantine birthday! To my fabulous prankster super big-hearted super caring super responsible super dad super fun-loving super party rockstar (although many may not believe the party bit) #superhero brother in law! Have a phenomenal year! @ajaydevgn.”
Ajay Devgn's darling wife, Kajol took to her IG handle and shared a monochrome picture, in which Ajay can be seen holding a camera in his hands, engrossed in the shooting. Alongside the picture, Kajol wrote a few lines for her hubby, complaining how she could not get a selfie to post on his birthday. Kajol's note can be read as "Tried getting a selfie but the only “selfie” I could manage was his “self” with another camera.. doing what makes him happiest! Happy Birthday... today and always."
To celebrate Ajay Devgn's 52nd birthday on April 2, 2021, Tanishaa Mukerji went down memory lane and dug out some precious memories with her jiu. Sharing the unseen pictures, Tanishaa wished the actor on his birthday and wrote, "Happyyyy birthday jayyyyy!!!! Here’s to always laughing loving and rejoicing our way through life! @ajaydevgn @kajol." When Ajay Devgn had turned 50 on April 2, 2019, Tanishaa Mukerji had posted a family picture from the mid-night cake-cutting celebrations, which had Tanuja, Kajol and Yug along with Ajay and Tanisha in one frame. Wishing her ‘best’ jiju, Tanisha had written, “Happy happy birthday our amazing Jay! Thank u for being such a family man and completing our family! you and my sister are just the best!!! We love you!”
Ajay Devgn and Kajol were termed as an 'unlikely pair' when they had tied the knot in 1999. In an interaction with Humans of Bombay, Kajol had revisited her 22-year-old love story and had revealed a lot of unknown aspects about the same. Starting with how she had 'bitched about' him when she had met him for the first time in 1995, Kajol had said, "We met 25 years ago, on the sets of Hulchul–I was ready for the shot & asked, 'Where's my hero?' Someone pointed him out–he was broodily sitting in a corner. So 10 minutes before I met him, I bitched about him! We began talking on set & became friends."

For the uninitiated, Kajol and Ajay were in relationships with other people at the time, when they had met, but those relationships had soon fizzled out. According to Kajol, somehow, the two of them had known, through some unspoken bond, that they were meant to be together. However, Kajol's friends had warned her when they had begun dating as he had quite a 'reputation'. Kajol had said, "It went from hand-holding to a lot more before we knew it! We used to go for dinners & so many drives–he lived in Juhu & I, in South Bombay, so half our relationship was in the car! My friends warned me about him–he had quite a reputation. But he was different with me–that's all I knew."
Did you know that Kajol's father hadn't talked to her for four days when Kajol had decided to marry Ajay Devgn? Yes, when after a courtship of four years, Kajol and Ajay had decided to take their relationship to the next level, Kajol's father was reluctant as he had wanted her to focus on her career. In her words, "His parents were on board, but my dad didn't talk to me for 4 days. He wanted me to focus on my career, but I was firm & he eventually came around. Again, there was no proposal–we just knew we wanted to spend our lives together."
