Abhishek Bachchan On Akbar Shahpurwala's Demise, Recalls How He Personally Stitched His First Suit

Abhishek Bachchan penned an emotional note on the demise of suit stylist, Akbar Shahpurwala and recalled how he used to stitch suits for him and his dad, Amitabh Bachchan.

Abhishek Bachchan On Akbar Shahpurwala's Demise, Recalls How He Personally Stitched His First Suit

Abhishek Bachchan is one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood, who has often awestruck us with his outstanding performances. Be it 'Lallan Singh' in Yuva or 'Ganga Ram Chaudhary' in Dasvi, the actor is lauded for his acting chops. Also, Abhishek is quite active on social media and often treats his fans with glimpses of his personal life.

Talking about his personal life, Abhishek had tied the knot with former Miss World and actress, Aishwarya Rai on April 20, 2007. After four years of marital bliss, Abhishek and Aishwarya had embraced parenthood and had welcomed their baby girl, Aaradhya Bachchan.

The actor, who has just returned with Aishwarya and Aaradhya from Cannes Film Festival shared a piece of sad news with his fans. On May 22, 2022, Abhishek took to his IG handle an emotional note, mourning the demise of the famous celebrity suit stylist, Akbar Shahpurwala. Posting a picture of one of the suits made by him with his label, Abhishek revealed how Akbar made most of his and Amitabh Bachchan's suits and wrote:

"Returned home to very sad news. Akbar Shahpurwala a bonafide legend of the film world passed away. I knew him as Akki uncle. He made my father’s costumes and most of his suits from as far back as I can remember and many of my films too."


Abhishek also revealed how Akbar cut and stitched his first-ever suit when he was a baby and the tux he wore for the premiere of his debut film. In his words:

"He personally cut and stitched my first ever suit as a baby (I still have it) to the tux I wore to Refugee’s premiere. If your costumes and suits were made by Kachins and then Gabana then you had arrived as a star. That was his influence and standing."

Remembering his words, Abhishek recalled how passionate he was about his work, and the actor also shared how he is going to pay his respect to him and concluded the note as:

"If he personally cut your suit, then he truly loved you. He always said to me that “cutting a suit is not just tailoring, it’s an emotion. When you wear my suits, each stitch is made with love and filled with my blessings “. To me he was the best suit maker in the world! I will wear one of your enumerable suits that you made for me tonight, Akki uncle, and feel blessed! Rest in peace."


On the professional front, Abhishek was last seen in the film, Dasvi.
