James Robison, the founder of Life Outreach International and the host of 'LIFE Today', has died at the age of 82.
Rev. James Robison has died at the age of 82. His family confirmed his death in an emotional statement on social media. In turn, the death has left the Christian community grieving over the loss of one of its most influential faith leaders. James, best known as the founder of LIFE Outreach International and longtime host of LIFE Today, spent several decades preaching Christian values around the world. While condolences continue to pour in for Betty Robison, who stood beside her as he built a global ministry, let us know more about her.
Betty Freeman, later known as Betty Robison, is an author, speaker, and TV host. She became widely known through the Christian talk show, LIFE Today. In fact, Betty co-hosted alongside her husband for decades. She was raised in a working-class family in Texas, but spent most of her life in ministry and humanitarian work. According to the ministry's official website, Betty and James first met at Pasadena High School in Texas. It marked the beginning of a teenage romance that eventually became a 63-year marriage.
But Betty has always been more than just the wife of a famous pastor. She emerged as a popular voice in Christian television. Betty is especially admired for her calm demeanor and on-screen emotional transparency. During the 1990s, the duo transitioned from traditional evangelism into a talk-show format with LIFE Today. It aired globally through Christian broadcasting networks, including TBN.
Apart from TV, Betty also worked on humanitarian projects with LIFE Outreach International. According to the organisation, the ministry helped provide food, medical aid, and clean drinking water to struggling communities across Africa, Asia, and Central America. She has frequently spoken up for the children and families living in poverty while supporting global relief campaigns. Betty has also authored books focused on faith, relationships, and personal healing.
James Robison and Betty Robison's love story is one of the most admired aspects of their public image. Despite coming from different backgrounds, the couple shared how their relationship has eventually helped to shape many lives. Betty grew up in a stable Christian family, while James had a difficult childhood amid poverty and instability. He was born in a charity ward in Texas and spent the majority of his childhood moving between homes before finding a stable church family in Pasadena.
According to ministry archives, he met Betty during his teenage years, and she gradually became his source of support. They tied the knot on February 23, 1963, at the age of 19. Later, James credited Betty's unconditional love for enabling him to heal from the trauma of childhood. Together, they raised three children, including one adopted son, and later welcomed grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They also faced a personal tragedy when their daughter, Robin, died from throat cancer in 2012.
James Robison's death was confirmed through an emotional statement shared on his official social media handle. At the same time, LIFE Outreach confirmed the news. But they did not confirm any official cause of his death. Still, they described him as a man who devoted his life to "share the Gospel and bring hope, help and healing to those in need around the world." Further, they praised the ministry work of James and Betty. In their words:
"Together, James and Betty stewarded a ministry that has touched countless lives and will continue to impact,"
Rest in peace, Betty Robison. We share our heartfelt condolences to James Robinson's family in this difficult time.
