While speaking about her divorce, Nicole also compared it to her very public split from her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, in 2001. Nicole Kidman went “into a spiral” during her divorce with Keith Urban
According to reports, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s split was pretty amicable, especially considering most celebrity divorces these days. Despite this, the actress' prior divorce from her first husband, Tom Cruise, might have haunted her during the proceedings.
During the negotiations, a source for the Daily Mail had claimed that the biggest “sticking point” for Nicole was the “custody of Sunday and Faith.” Reports suggest that Nicole had been given primary custody of both their daughters for 306 days a year. On the other hand, Keith was only given 59 days. The source said that “Keith was initially asking for equal time with their daughters,” but Nicole was unhappy with the request and went “into a spiral.”
The outlet reported that the reason behind Nicole’s reaction might have something to do with her split from Tom Cruise in 2001. A second source revealed, “Nicole also wanted the kids more because she wasn't given that benefit when she divorced Tom Cruise.”
While Nicole and Tom’s divorce agreement gave the former couple joint custody of their children, Isabella and Connor, it was their ties to the Church of Scientology that included their decision to stay with their father full-time. This eventually led to an estranged relationship between Nicole and their kids, Isabella and Connor.
During a 2018 interview, Nicole lightly touched upon the subject, stating that they are adults who are able to make their own decisions. She added, “They have made choices to be Scientologists, and as a mother, it's my job to live them.”
Between Isabella and Connor, the actress seems to share a warmer relationship with her eldest daughter. She reportedly supported her during her divorce from Keith Urban. An insider claimed:
