His younger sister, Barbara Lavandeira first time talked about the ordeal as she was the first one who saw him in the horrific state. She revealed how she handled the situation and saved his life.
Perez Hilton's sister, Barbara shared he was naked in the bathroom with blood all over him
Perez Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., livestreamed his suicide attempt on TikTok. In an interview with Page Six, Barbara talked about the mental health struggles her brother has been dealing with. She called August 4, 2026, as the darkest day of her life. She revealed that her brother was in his bedroom and the door was locked which he never did.
Barbara stated that when she knocked his door, he told her he was fine but she couldn't hear him. After she knocked a few more times, and he stopped replying, she opened the door. She said:
"When I knocked, he said he was fine, but I could barely hear him. After I knocked a few more times and asked him to open the door, he stopped responding. I tried calling his cell phone in case he couldn’t hear me, but he wouldn’t answer. Something just felt wrong."
After unlocking the bedroom, she realized that he was inside his bathroom and knocked several times but he didn't opened the door, and didn't answer her. She feared something was wrong and so she unlocked the door. But it was horrific moment as her brother was standing in front of the shower, naked, cut up and covered in blood with a box of cutter in his hand.
Barbara shared that she couldn't recognize if the man standing in the front was her brother. She looked in his eyes and he didn't look the same, and a split second later he smiled at her. She was quoted as saying:
"When I opened the door, my nightmare became a reality. Mario was standing in front of the shower, naked, cut up, covered in blood, with a box cutter in his hand. What I can say with certainty is that I didn’t recognize my brother when I looked at him. I saw it in his eyes. They didn’t look the same. Then a split second later, he smiled at me. It felt like I was staring at someone else."
Barbara stated that she has been leaving specific details as they are too painful, graphic and overwhelming. After seeing him, she immediately left the room, grabbed the car keeys and asked the kids run to the car. The only relief was that their mother wasn't at the home. She said:
"I left the room, grabbed the car keys and yelled for the kids to run to the car. Thankfully, our mom wasn’t home at the time, and I was able to get everyone out quickly. Once we were in the car, I called the police and arranged for someone to pick up the children, take them away from the scene and make sure they didn’t return."
Barbara left the house, placing towels on him to stop the bleeding and waited for the ambulance. She claimed that he had lost a significant amount of blood yet he was still able to talk to her but it was in a faint voice. After the incident, the police shared in the statement that the individual has been safely recovered and has been transported to the hospital to receive immediate medical attention.
