Meghan Trainor, whom we see as the fiery pop artist on stage, is also a usual wife and mother beyond all the glitz and glamour. She is as dedicated to her three children, Riley, Barry, and Mikey Moon, as she is to her career. Recently, on August 13, 2026, the singer revealed that her 5-year-old son, Riley Trainor has separation anxiety, and he can't bear to be away from his mom for even a little while.
It was a very concerning situation for Meghan, who is constantly away for her music and television work. She has concerts, award shows, and much more to deal with, while also making sure her kids don't feel abandoned. To deal with it, Meghan developed an adorable parenting hack, which has the internet's approval.
Taking to Instagram, the mom of three shared that she noticed that stuffed toys help Riley with his separation anxiety. A part of her candid remarks about her son's separation anxiety could be read as:
"My sweet 5-year-old boy is having separation anxiety, so he's started using his stuffies, his Smurfette, and was like, 'This is mama, this is mama,' and I thought, 'I'll make a mama, I'll make a stuffie that looks like mama."
Meghan Trainor shared that Riley often pointed at his stuffed toys and jokingly said, "This is mama." That gave the singer the idea to get a customized doll made that looks just like her. She also shared how the little one reacted to her gift and whether it has helped improve his condition.

Meghan Trainor shared that her son, Riley has been dealing with his separation anxiety better since she gifted him the stuffed toy that looks like her. According to her, Riley absolutely loves the doll and clings to it whenever he misses his mother. She shared that Riley hugs and kisses it and appreciates his mom's gesture. In her words:
"The thing is, I did, and he loves it. He kisses it, he hugs it."
As Meghan Trainor was filming the video, opening up about her son's separation anxiety, the little one arrived and asked her, "What are you doing?" To which she replied, "Showing off your mama doll. Aw, you love it?" Riley's expression revealed that he indeed loves and treasures the gift from mom. Then the mother-son duo shared a sweet moment as she told him, "I love you so much," to which he replied, "Love you!"
Meghan then asked Riley whether he thought the doll looked like her, and he replied, "Yup." The singer also joked that the doll even has "thin hair" like her while showing it on camera. She said, "Kinda looks like me, dude", and even pointed at other similar features, including glasses, her short blonde hair and a strikingly familiar smile. Riley agreed that the doll looks quite similar to his mom, and even the internet echoed the same opinion.
"It does look like you though," one fan commented. Many even wanted Meghan Trainor to sell the doll as official merchandise. One of them wrote, "We need these as merch." A third added, "If y'all aren't the cutest family, lol."
