After a thorough investigation, the police identified Chad Williams as the armed suspect, who is reportedly deceased now. Amid that curiosity regarding his motive behind the atrocity, here's everything we know about him.
Chad Williams was identified as the suspect in the mass killing at Idaho's In-N-Out Burger joint. Law enforcement revealed that he was 24 years old and was the lone gunman responsible for the August 1, 2026 violence. Chad reportedly opened fire at the fast-food restaurant and the surrounding shopping centre, killing three people, including an employee and a customer of the outlet, and ended up injuring seven others, who are currently receiving medical attention.
Regarding Chad Williams' background, the investigation officers didn't share any more details; however, internet sleuths have allegedly uncovered a few unknown details. After going through what they claimed to be Chad's X (formerly Twitter) account, a user alleged that the Idaho shooting suspect went to a college where he learned Crime Scene Investigation (CSI). They also shared screenshots of Chad's alleged posts questioning degree requirements for becoming an ICE or criminal investigator.
One of the X users even claimed that there was a high chance of Chad Williams having failed college. As per the poster, Chad was last active on Twitter in April 2026, and after the Idaho incident, his account was taken down. They also claimed to have obtained a photo of Chad from his family member's account, and the individual's profile hinted that Chad and his parents were from Arizona. As per the social media people, Chad's family was fully cooperating in the investigation of the tragic Idaho killings.
Another X post made more unverified claims about Chad Williams. As per them, Chad was far from cleanliness, and his peers avoided him because he would rarely shower. They also claimed to have gotten inside information from Chad's family regarding him wetting his bed even in his teenage years. They further alleged Chad engaged with prostitutes, two of whom stated that he had every reason to be furious at the world due to "anatomical reasons".
Following the claims by X users that Chad Williams was a criminal investigator or ICE aspirant, people started looking up pics of him online. Some shared the photo of his lookalike, who was decked out in a cop uniform. The individual received immense online backlash due to being mistaken for Chad Williams. Following that, the girlfriend of Chad's lookalike, who goes by the Facebook account Justice Tew, clarified the issue.
Calling out the "idiots" who shared "false information" about her boyfriend, the lookalike's girlfriend slammed them. She mentioned the lives of her and her boyfriend's family had been disrupted due to unverified rumours linking him to the Idaho mass shooting. Clarifying that he has solid alibis to confirm that he was with her during the tragedy, she stated:
"Rant to the idiots who think my boyfriend was the shooter at In-N-Out. Stop spreading false information. He has a life to live and job to do. He was not involved and we have many MANY alibis. He was with me and our family while I got pinned a new rank. We couldn't even go out to celebrate in fear that somebody would have shot him or called the damn SWAT team on us. I have proof. Don't believe everything you see on the internet. The shooter is in a body bag and that photo on the left is Al."
