Regarding Manuel's modus operandi of the crime, the victims alleged that he exploited his position as a trusted travel guide to lure them into vulnerable situations, often involving drugging and subsequent sexual exploitation. Manuel's case gained global attention, even reportedly resulting in a specific security alert from the U.S. Department of State regarding reports of his assaults in Seville.
