The reason for the same has been an alleged dispute between two of the cast members, Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen. The circumstances leading to their fight have not been revealed yet. However, it reportedly led to the cameras being shut down.
Taylor and Dakota’s relationship has been the main focus of the show in the fourth season. The situation between the former couple took a worse turn in Season 4, leading to an intense ending of the show. The news of the production coming to a temporary halt was first reported by TMZ on March 15, 2026 (ET). The outlet quoted their sources while sharing the details, and there is no clarity on when the filming will continue. However, the outlet has learned that the matter is being taken seriously and everything is being handled with caution.
The return of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives with a fifth season was confirmed in November 2025. According to Deadline, Hulu decided to bring the fourth season by the first half of 2026. Furthermore, the streaming platform claimed that the viewership for the series has increased with each season. Producer Jeff Jenkins also confirmed in an interview with Deadline that the cast members were ready to shoot for the show throughout 2026. Jeff even hinted towards the arrival of a new cast member and explained the plans by saying:
“If the appetite from the subscribers on Hulu remains high for this franchise, then we’ll probably be shooting chunks of 10 episodes, kind of quasi back-to-back, with that one-or two-month break in between. We’re very lucky to have an ensemble, like Jessi’s been carrying the ball in with her really intense divorce drama. Taylor Frankie Paul carried the ball in the season before that, so there’s always someone who’s got big story breaking.”
As per Decider, a lot of things are expected to happen in Season 5. Taylor Frankie Paul went on to continue shooting for The Bachelorette after the end of the fourth season of the Hulu series. It is possible now that Taylor might find someone else or focus on herself before getting into another relationship. Moreover, viewers are also waiting to see the fate of Jessi Draper’s marriage to Jordan Ngatikaura and how Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry are going to deal with their split.
