The 98th Academy Awards are leading all the headlines. Amid the tremendous wins and some of the stunning red carpet looks, the Oscars 2026 made a lot of noise. Amid the buzz, a viral claim turned into a massive headline. During the 2026 Oscars buzz, a viral claim stated that actor Timothée Chalamet had a dramatic fall at the ceremony.
As soon as pictures and videos of Timothee Chalamet’s fall made their way to social media, his fans got worried and started searching whether the news was true. Well, Timothee Chalamet didn’t fall down the stairs during the 2026 Oscars, and the recent claims are fake. The viral claim originated from a misleading post by the X account @DiscussingFish, which circulated a fabricated image stating that Timothee had a dramatic fall during the ceremony.

The post even stated @TheAcademy as its source, but the official Academy account called the report fake. In fact, the viral image is from the 2011 Cannes Film Festival when a security guard tried to remove a man from the red carpet and he ended up falling in a tragic way.

Earlier, Timothee Chalamet garnered a lot of attention for his comment on opera. It so happened that during a Variety and CNN Town Hall event held in February 2026, the actor stated that opera and ballet are now obsolete art forms. Stating that he himself would not be a part of anything that has lost relevance in the current time, Timothee shared that many people are interested in ballet or opera.

But as soon as he realised how his words would hurt the feelings of many people, Timothee covered up his statement with a joke. However, his attempt couldn't save him from widespread outrage as the clip quickly went viral, and the damage was already done. However, during the 2026 Oscars, host Conan O'Brien took a jibe at Timothee’s controversial statement.

During his opening monologue, 62-year-old Conan sarcastically stated that the security for the evening was exceptionally tight due to "concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities." Later in the show, ahead of the award for Best Animated Feature, Conan O'Brien once again called him out, stating:
"I'm vibing with Timothée right now. We're vibing, right? He doesn't think so."

Timothee Chalamet was nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars for his performance in Marty Supreme. Michael B Jordan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, and Wagner Moura were nominated alongside him. Michael B. Jordan won the award for his performance in Sinners.
