T-Series founder, Gulshan Kumar's brother, Darshan Kumar, has passed away at the age of 70. After the news broke, Mika Singh shared a heartfelt tribute to Darshan.

Darshan Kumar was one such name who had quietly shaped the industry without ever stepping into the spotlight. For those unaware, he was the younger brother of T-Series founder, Gulshan Kumar. According to reports, Darshan passed away on April 18, 2026, in Delhi. He was 70 years old when he left for the heavenly abode. His passing has left a hole in the music industry, and now, Mika Singh took to his Instagram handle to pen a heartfelt tribute for Darshan Kumar.

Mika Singh shares a heartfelt tribute for Darshan Kumar

Although Darshan Kumar preferred to stay away from the spotlight and lead a private life while he was alive, he was still an important figure behind the scenes. He played a significant role in supporting several artists and talents within the industry. This is why his death has sparked an emotional response within the entertainment circles. Among the first public figures to have paid tribute to Darshan Kumar was singer, Mika Singh.

After hearing the sad news, he took to his Instagram to remember Darshan Kumar's generosity and contribution to music. Mika called him a truly great man and claimed that he had left them with his beautiful memories. He also wrote about how Darshan supported so many singers and gave opportunities to multiple talents. Mika's note can be read as:

"Just heard the heartbreaking news that Darshan Kumar ji, the owner of T-Series, has left us with his beautiful memories. He was truly a great man and always so helpful. He launched and supported so many singers and gave opportunities to countless talents. May Mata Rani bless his soul and give him eternal peace. Rest in peace. Om Shanti."

T-Series mourns the death of Darshan Kumar 

A while ago, the official T-Series X handle (formerly Twitter) also shared a note mourning Darshan Kumar's death. They called his passing a major loss to their family, claiming that he has left behind a space which cannot be filled. According to them, Darshan was the strength behind T-Series. They wrote:

“A major loss for our family, the passing of Shri Darshan Kumar ji leaves a space that cannot be filled. The younger brother of our founder Shri Gulshan Kumar ji, he was a strength behind T-Series, someone who stood by the journey with unwavering presence over the years. He played an important role in supporting and strengthening the foundation of the company. Today, we remember him not just for what he did, but for who he was, and the place he held within the T-Series family.”

Who was Darshan Kumar?

According to a report by Zee News, Darshan Kumar had served as the Chairman and Managing Director of T-Series, which is one of India's largest music labels, on top of being a major film production house. The label was founded by his elder brother, Gulshan Kumar, a few decades ago, in 1983. Over the years, it steadily grew and became a dominant force in the Indian music industry. It is worth noting that apart from Darshan, the business has also been led by Krishnan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar. Meanwhile, Tulsi Kumar and Khushalii Kumar made a name for themselves as performers.

Behind the scenes, reports suggest that Darshan often supported Punjabi and regional music spaces. While maintaining a quiet presence, Darshan nurtured talent and helped expand the label's reach.

Although it has been revealed that Darshan Kumar passed away at the age of 70 on April 18, 2026, the exact cause of his death has not been disclosed so far. Prior to his death, Darshan was seen last year, in 2025, alongside devotional singer, Mani Ladla. The singer shared a picture of himself and Darshan from Amritsar on Instagram and thanked him for visiting and acknowledging his continued connection with artists. He captioned the post, “After a long time met Darshan Kumar ji, owner of T-Series company. Thanks, sir, for coming to my place.”
