Sonakshi Sinha made her relationship official by getting married to Zaheer Iqbal in June 2024. However, it was followed by a lot of assumptions and rumours about Sonakshi's family not approving of Zaheer. But Sonakshi faced all the rumours and buzz with smile and love for Zaheer. Recently, the two were part of Farah Khan's latest cooking vlog.
In the cooking vlog, Sonakshi's mother, Poonam Sinha, was also present during the shooting. Farah questioned Sonakshi's mother when she got to know about her relationship. She clearly stated that she had not known about their relationship till five years. During the candid conversation, Farah asked Poonam:
"Nepal tak toh baat phail chukti thi but apko kab pata chala ki ye dono date kar rahe the?"
However, Sonakshi instantly chimed in and shared that her month knew it way before. Poonam stated that she knew when they went to the Northern Lights, where Zaheer proposed to her. To this, Farah stated that they had been together for many years. Poonam straight away denied knowing anything about it.
However, Sonakshi seemed to be in a full-on exposing mood, as she straight away told her mother not to lie. She stated that she had told her first, and she was the one who didn't tell her father. Sonakshi said, "Mummy, camera pe jhooth mat bolo. Sabse pehle apko bola tha, apne papa ko nahi bataya." Poonam stated that she had an idea that something was brewing between the two. She said:
"Jab usko dekha tray utha rahi hai yeh kar rahi hai vo kar rahi hai tab thura shaq hogya tha. Fir maa ki aankh ka bahut achi hoti hai."
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal were together for eight years before officially getting married. While fans love their playful nature and funny video posts, not many know that they, too, had their share of tough times. Recently, in a conversation with Soha Ali Khan on her podcast, Sonakshi opened up for the first time about facing a rough patch with Zaheer.
Sonkashi talked about her early days of their dating phase. She revealed that after completing three years of togetherness, they had a bad phase, where they just wanted to pull each other's hair out. She called it a 'three-year itch'. She said:
"Just when we were three years into the relationship, we had a phase where we just wanted to pull each other’s hair out. No matter what we did, we just couldn’t understand each other’s perspective."
Sonakshi revealed the fights would leave them frustrated, but they wanted to make the relationship work. So that's when Zaheer suggested couples therapy, and Sonakshi instantly agreed. Sonakshi revealed that after just two sessions, their relationship was back on track. It helped them understand each other better.
Sonakshi Sinha got married to Zaheer Iqbal in a registered wedding and it was attended by her parents and all the close family and friends. However, the actress' brother, Luv Sinha and Kussh Sinha did not attend the wedding, and even maintained a distance from their sister and her husband. There was a strong buzz that they were not happy with Sonakshi's choice of husband.
