Shilpa Shinde Reacts To Shubhangi Atre's Decade-Long 'Angoori Bhabhi' Portrayal, 'Sabke Bas Ki...'

Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! has become a fan favourite show over the years. The show has won millions of hearts with its comic elements and has been actively entertaining the audience for more than a decade. Among the many characters, 'Angoori Bhabhi' is the heart of the show. The character was first played by Shilpa Shinde, but following a controversy, she was replaced by Shubhangi Atre. Now, the OG 'Angoori Bhabhi', Shilpa, has made a comeback and reacted to Shubhangi’s decade-long portrayal.

Shilpa Shinde comments on Shubhangi Atre's decade-long 'Angoori Bhabhi' portrayal

In a recent interview with Telly Chakkar, Shilpa Shinde was asked about Shubhangi Atre as an actress. In response, the OG 'Angoori Bhabhi' shared that Shubhangi as an actress did well, but comedy isn’t everyone's cup of tea. Shilpa highlighted that during the controversy surrounding her exit in 2016, she had mentioned that Shubhangi did a great job. She then added that to copy someone who has already developed a character, it is a difficult task for a newcomer. For the unversed, after Shilpa’s controversial exit, it was Shubhangi who became the new 'Angoori Bhabhi'. Shilpa was quoted as saying:

"Dekhiye as an actor, maine us waqt bhi bola tha jab controversy chal rahi thi, very frankly, usne kaam kiya hai achha. Achhi actress hai but comedy sabke bas ki baat nahi hai. Aur uske baad kisiko copy karna, wo bohot mushkil hai, bohot pressure hota hai."

In the same interview, Shilpa explained that if Shubhangi played an original character, she would have become more popular. Shilpa shared that if she ever tries to copy an actress, her efforts will not pay off. Shilpa highlighted that even if an actress does the acting well, she will not get fame by being someone’s copy. She was quoted as saying:

"Dekho aaj main kitna bhi sochu kisi actress ko copy karna, toh wo copy ho jaati hai. Chahe main kitni bhi achhi acting karu."

Shubhangi Atre called Shilpa Shinde a fantastic actor

In an interview with Bombay Times, Shubhangi shared that she wants to end the replacement game. However, not many know that Shubhangi was replaced by Shilpa earlier in the hit TV soap opera, Chidiya Ghar. In Chidiya Ghar, Shubhangi took up the role of 'Koyal Narayan' after Shilpa exited the show. Later, the latter returned to the show and replaced the former. She mentioned that she was returning the role of 'Angoori Bhabhi' to Shilpa with a full heart. She then called Shilpa a 'fantastic actor' and shared that she is genuinely fond of her. She was quoted as saying:

"I just want to say that I am ending this replacement game now. I told my mum that Shilpa left the show in nine to ten months, so it felt like she handed me a newborn baby. I raised that baby for ten years, and now I am returning it to her. I am passing it back with a full heart. I wish Shilpa all the very best and also the entire team for the 2.0 version of the show. She is a fantastic actor, and I am genuinely fond of her."

Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain is a Hindi language sitcom and had premiered on March 2, 2015. The show focuses on two neighbouring couples, the Mishras and Tiwaris. The husbands, 'Vibhuti Narayan Mishra' and 'Manmohan Tiwari', try their best to impress each other’s wives, 'Anita Mishra' and 'Angoori Tiwari'. However, they fail each time, creating a comic stance. The show is inspired by the 1990s sitcom, Shrimaan Shrimati. The show stars Aasif Sheikh as 'Vibhuti', Rohitashv Gour as 'Manmohan'. While the characters, 'Anita' and 'Angoori', had replacements.
