Saba Ali Pataudi and Soha Ali Khan sat for a candid conversation with Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi on their chat show, Double Date. While her siblings, Saif Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan got married to their respective partners, Saba stayed unmarried. During the conversation, Saba revealed that she never had a boyfriend. She mentioned that at the age of 18-19, she was introduced to a lot of people for marriage. At 19, her marriage was almost fixed to a man from Kolkata. In her words:
"I did not have a first boyfriend. I was introduced to a lot of people for marriage from the age of 18 or 19, but I didn't marry any of them. Though at 19, I almost did marry someone in Kolkata whom I had been introduced to. But that didn't quite work out. I wasn't really ready for it."
During the same conversation, Saba explained that it was never like she was against marriage. But she just didn’t find anyone who was truly compatible. Saba shared that after having a father like late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, she wished to have someone like him as her life partner. She described him as a remarkable person who was charismatic, kind and responsible. Saba added that her father taught her how to be independent. In her words:
"I just didn't find anyone who was truly compatible. And after having a father like Abba, honestly, he was such a remarkable person. Not that you're looking for someone exactly like your father, but your father is your father. He was so charismatic, humble, responsible, and he also taught me to be independent."
Further, in the same conversation, Saba spoke about the qualities that she expected from her life partner. She shared that actress Taapsee Pannu once said that she needs a man, not a boy. This very statement of hers really influenced Saba. She added that she didn’t get a man with such qualities. She said, "There was something Taapsee Pannu once said: 'I don't need a boy, I need a man.' I really resonated with that. And I just didn't quite find that person."
