Well, it was in 1995 when Gabrielle had made a big life decision as she had shifted from New York to Los Angeles, to be with Carroll. During this time, Rocky was kind of making up his acting career. Rocky Carroll and his wife, Gabrielle Bullock, grew very close, and in 1996 they decided to tie the knot. The couple has kept their relationship very private, and their partnership has lasted nearly 30 years now. The couple rarely shares details related to their relationship in the public and likes to focus on their family and career life.

Gabrielle used to pursue drawing before she was encouraged by her teacher to explore architecture, which would likely dictate her future. Gabrielle then was known for her work in architecture and has also created leadership roles.
Gabrielle Bullock, earlier in an interview with the Larchmont Chronicle, revealed that she was always interested in changing the world. She knew she had some artistic ability inherited. Gabrielle knew that art was something that was in her genes, as her mom was also artistic. Speaking of how Gabrielle knew she always wanted to be an architect, she revealed:
"Traversing the city and seeing the public housing and how people of coloru lived, it impacted me greatly. I knew then that I wanted to be an architect. Everybody deserves a beautiful place to live, a healthy place to live.”
Gabrielle Bullock was the second Black woman to graduate from the architecture division of the elite Rhode Island School of Design. She had then joined different architecture firms that had a focus on creating affordable houses. Bullock then worked with a New York based architectural firm called as Russo & Sonder and focused on how design could add value to the health sector. Later, when Gabrielle became the managing director and also a principal at Perkins & Will, she understood why she stood out differently. Bullock explained that Black architects are 2-3 percent [of all architects]. Black women architects represent 0.2 percent. It is not a terribly diverse profession and Gabrielle did notice that there was a lack of cultural competence too.
Gabrielle, earlier in an interview with Madamearchitect.org, revealed that after her school, she wanted to work with firms that worked on low-income housing in New York. This was during the mid-80s, in the middle of a recession. She revealed that she ended up working for three small firms that specialised in the projects, and she was interested in the same. Gabrielle also revealed that she had no interest in doing fancy skyscrapers, projects that didn’t mean anything except being the tallest building. Her major interest was always in the healthcare section and then she was lucky to have found socially relevant projects. Gabrielle who has been proud of being a New Yorker shared:
"For financial reasons, for survival, I had to rethink where I would work. I came upon Russo & Saunder, a healthcare firm, which Perkins and Will acquired several years after I joined. I realised that healthcare was actually very important and socially relevant work."
