A few days back, in an episode of Lock Upp 2, Ram Kapoor raised his voice at Farah Khan. Following the incident, many netizens shared that Riteish and Farah are too soft as hosts. In fact, some users hinted at the hosts’ partiality towards Ram. In a recent interview, Riteish reacted to the following.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Riteish Deshmukh opened up about his working experience with Farah Khan as co-host on the show, Lock Upp 2. Before hosting the show, Lock Upp 2, Riteish was seen hosting the shows, Bigg Boss Marathi Season 5 and Season 6. He shared that there is definitely a format that dictates how a show should be hosted. But with his and Farah’s inherent personality, they are trying to bring different things to the table. In his words:
"I feel there is a format that dictates how a show should be hosted. Of course, there is an inherent personality that both Farah and I bring to the table. We have our own sense of humour. As hosts, we see how everyone's moral compass, the way things are perceived, is different. Keeping that in mind, I think Farah and I are different from each other and also similar in many ways."
Riteish mentioned that in Lock Upp 2, he and Farah need to interact with the contestants on a daily basis. Usually, on other shows, after a whole week is done, the host reviews the entire week. So in this show, it is very important to understand where each of the contestants is coming from. Riteish added that as a lot of secrets get unfolded, it is important to embrace them with a lot of sensitivity. In his words:
"In Lock Upp, we are interacting with the contestants on a daily basis. Here you interact with them as it unfolds. So one has to understand where each one of them is coming from, and there are a lot of deep secrets that need to be embraced. it requires a lot of sensitivity to understand them. It is a very tough game; it is not easy. They are challenged at an emotional level every day."
Further in the interview, Riteish Deshmukh shared that he cannot deal with every contestant the same way. He explained that hosting is not about yelling like a judge all the time. It is worth noting that Riteish’s statement about the following came days after netizens compared him and Farah to Salman Khan. In fact, some users also hinted at partiality that Riteish and Farah reportedly had towards Ram Kapoor. A user wrote, "Throughout the season, Farah and Riteish have been so selective with whom they choose to call out."
Another user penned, "Farah is too good for this show. I absolutely hated Ram for raising his voice at Farah. Farah showed him who she is by being calm. He won't raise his voice against Salman. Last episode, Riteish called him a mega star. I might be wrong, but I think this show needs a tougher host like Salman. Riteish and Farah are too soft." Riteish shared that he and Farah are trying their best to host the show in a proper way. In his words:
"A lot of players think they are done and do not want to do it again, so it is also about how you prep them up and motivate. So it is not just about yelling at them as a judge. Yes, there are certain things that need to be told, and one strictly adheres to that, but primarily one has to understand the contestant, and each one of them is different. I cannot deal with everyone the same way. So Farah and I do our best to do that."
