People are not ready to get over the movie, 'Dhurandhar'. As Akshaye Khanna is grabbing attention for his role as 'Rehman Dakait', here's some unknown information about the real-life Rehman.
Aditya Dhar's movie, Dhurandhar has been making waves from the time it was announced to hit the screens. Initially, the movie made headlines with negative reasons and due to some legal issues, which were raised due to some complaints. But avoiding the chaos, the movie hit sixer at the box office, and people are not able to get over the same.
Among others, Akshaye Khanna was the one who did magic onscreen with his portrayal as 'Rehman Dakait'. From action to impromptu dance, which became the Internet's obsession, Akshaye Khanna ticked all the boxes to be the one about whom people are not tired of talking. Well, amid Akshaye rising high with his 'villainous' era, let's know something unknown about 'Rehman Dakait'.
Rehman Dakait was born in 1976 in Karachi. Abdul Rehman was the son of Abu Mohammad and his second wife, Khadija. When Rehman was only 13 years old, he stabbed and injured a man who asked him not to burst crackers. Rehman's birth and rise in the world of crime were swift, and it was during the time he was 15 that he killed two drug peddlers with whom he had a tiff.
Rehman was the 'King of Lyari' afterwards; however, at just 15 years of age, he reportedly committed the murder of his own mother. It was in 1995, right after he escaped from jail, that he shot his mother dead. The reason behind the same has been said to be the fact that Rehman got to know that his mom had become an informant of the police, while some other reports claimed that Rehman got to know that his mom had an affair with one of the rival gang members.
Several sources revealed that Rehman Dakait was married three times and had 13 kids. According to the reports, Rehman Dakait and his three partners were killed during a police encounter in 2009, something that was shown in the movie, Dhurandhar as well. After his death, reportedly, Rehman got the biggest funeral in Lyari, while Rehman's widow reportedly reached the Sindhi High Court, claiming that the encounter was fake. Reportedly, a case was filed, but it was never resolved. On the other hand, Chaudhary Aslam, the SP, was killed in 2014.
Akshaye Khanna has done a brilliant job in his role as 'Rehman Dakait'. The actor was reportedly paid in crores for his role in the movie. Talking about the same, the casting director, Mukesh Chhabra, told Moneycontrol that while Akshaye isn't a tall person, he has his own aura, and he brings things that are unique and his own. Sharing more about casting Akshaye as Rehman, Mukesh said:
"He (Akshaye) has his own sur, the way he thinks, the way he comes up with ideas. If you see every single expression of his, it is not borrowed and copied. He will always come up with his own idea, his own style, his own swag. He’s not a well-built guy, and he’s not tall, but his personality is everything. We wanted Rehman Dacait to look normal, but his aura should be such that whosoever looks at him should be scared."
