In a recent conversation, Bobby Deol revealed that his mom, Prakash Kaur, stayed away from his dad, Dharmendra's fame and glory.
Bobby Deol, the youngest son of veteran actor, Dharmendra, is hogging the limelight for his newly released film, Bandar. In a recent interview, Bobby got candid about his mom, Prakash Kaur, who has always stayed away from the limelight. He highlighted how his mom played the biggest role in raising him and his siblings. For the unversed, Prakash Kaur is the first wife of legendary actor, Dharmendra. The veteran actor and Prakash welcomed four children, Sunny, Bobby, Vijayta and Ajeeta Deol.
In a recent conversation, Bobby Deol opened up about his mother, Prakash Kaur’s contribution to his life. He stated that his mother has been a housewife all her life. He explained that due to his mom being a housewife, people kept on thinking that his dad, Dharmendra, was the biggest reason for the way they are, but it was never that way. He mentioned that as Prakash is not an actor, they end up talking about their dad, Dharmendra, more. He added that their mom, Prakash, is an amazing woman. Bobby was quoted as saying:
"My mother has been a housewife all her life. People keep thinking that our dad is the biggest reason for the way we are, but it is never that way. It’s the mother who plays the biggest role in how the kids are. Because my mom is not an actor, so we end up talking more about my father. But my mother is just an amazing woman. She was so young when she got married to him. The fame and the glory that came, she never really got into it. She was a simple woman and still is… totally grounded."
In the book, Dharmendra: Not Just a He-Man, author, Rajiv Vijayakar wrote that before Esha Deol’s marriage to Bharat Takhtani, Prakash Kaur was involved in looking for a match for her stepdaughter. Rajiv mentioned that Dharmendra once told him that Prakash searched for a suitable groom for Esha. Although Prakash had offered to help find a groom, reportedly no one from her side of the family attended Esha’s wedding to Bharat in 2012. Rajiv wrote:
"However, improbable it may seem to the layman, it is absolutely believable that Dharmendra had once told me, ‘Prakash is also looking for a suitable groom for Esha.’"
In her biography, Hema Malini mentioned that although she has never spoken about Prakash, she respects her a lot. She added that her daughters, Esha and Ahana respect Prakash and her family. She wrote:
"Though I have never spoken about Prakash, I respect her a lot. Even my daughters respect Dharamji’s family. The world wants to know about my life in detail, but that is not for others to know. It’s no one’s business."
Prakash Kaur got married to Dharmendra when he was far away from the acting industry. According to reports, Dharmendra was 19 at the time. Dharmendra tied the knot with Prakash in 1954. It was an arranged marriage. They welcomed four children, two sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, and two daughters, Vijayta and Ajeeta Deol. Both Sunny and Bobby followed their dad’s footsteps and stepped into the acting world. And just like Prakash, her daughters, Vijayta and Ajeeta, also stayed away from the limelight.
