Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleVeteran singer and drummer Phil Collins is currently making headlines, not because of his work but because of a shocking personal life revelation. The 75-year-old has not been lucky in love, having divorced thrice. Recently, he opened up about his separation from his third wife, Orianne Cevey, sharing unknown details about having a near-death experience due to its emotional toll. Phil also made a raw and candid admission regarding finding love after three failed marriages.
Phil Collins' three divorces greatly affected his life and music career. The splits hit him hard financially as well, reportedly costing him over USD 80 million total in legal settlements. He even fell into addiction and health difficulties due to the emotional toll the failed marriages had on him. However, even after such unfavorable experiences, the legendary artist hasn't given up on love. In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, he shared his desire to fall in love once again.
The Grammy-winning singer is still open to finding love at 75. Phil Collins revealed that he wants to be all romantic with his future girlfriend. He shared that he would want to kiss her and do all the basic couple stuff with her. He basically misses the warmth of being around a romantic partner. His exact words were:
"I'd love to be in love again. I would love a relationship. Kissing somebody, for example. You know, pretty basic stuff."
Phil Collins was already divorced twice before his union with Orianne Cevey. However, it was his third separation from her that crushed him completely. The 75-year-old music icon shared the heartbreaking details in the same interview. He revealed struggling with alcohol addiction since his split from Orianne, which led him to a near-death health crisis. Recalling the tough time, Phil shared that in April 2024, he suffered from multiple-organ failure and needed to be hospitalized.
Phil was admitted to a medical facility in Switzerland, and all five of his children traveled there to see him. As per him, his manager informed his kids that he wouldn't survive the health emergency and called them to say their final goodbyes to their dad. The music icon recalled the doctors asking for his family in case they had to make decisions regarding whether to keep him on life support or not. Opening up on the incident, Phil Collins said:
"There were some decisions to be made about 'Do we keep Phil on life support?' kind of thing. My kidneys were packing up, my organs were just seizing up. People were coming to say goodbye."
Phil further said that during his hospitalization, he was not in a state to register who all came to visit him. He can't remember if his children actually went to see him or not. However, he recalled them being extremely worried that it would be their final meeting with their father. Phil Collins shared how things could have turned out in the worst-case scenario where he dies under tragic circumstances, leaving his children hurting. His poignant words were:
"But I don't remember them coming; I didn't have no idea this was going on. They were all worried that they wouldn't see me again. It could all have gone so terribly wrong."
Phil was driven to such a near-death condition due to resorting to alcoholism to cope with his retirement from the music industry and his third marriage breakdown with Orianne Cevey. The couple married in 1999 and split in 2008. They reconciled in 2016 and moved back in together; however, within a few years she fell for someone else.
In July 2020, Orianne informed Phil of the same over text, and the next month she reportedly eloped with her new lover, musician Thomas Bates. It was followed by messy legal suits, leading Phil to financial setbacks, mental strain, and alcoholism.
