Tommaso Cioni and Dominic Evans are being suspected as dual kidnappers of Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, by the public. Read to know why.
American broadcast journalist and Today Show host, Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie, has been missing from her Tucson, Arizona home after being last seen at midnight on January 31, 2026. Recently, the case received a big breakthrough as the FBI got their hands on photos and videos of a masked person of interest in the 84-year-old's abduction case. After the visuals were publicised, some investigators weighed in on the possibility of not one but two kidnappers being caught on camera. The public suspects Nancy's son-in-law, Tommaso, and his friend, Dominic Evans, are the potential faces behind the masks.
The FBI released high-resolution surveillance photos and video clips of a person of interest in the kidnapping of Savannah's mom, Nancy Guthrie. The footage was recovered from residual data in her home's backend systems after the recording device was removed. The clip shows an armed individual outside her Tucson residence on the morning she vanished. Key details from the visual evidence reportedly include the subject wearing a full-face ski mask (balaclava), dark gloves, a zip-up jacket, khakis, sneakers, and a backpack with reflective strips on the straps.
The man in the video is visibly armed, appearing to have a handgun and a flashlight in their mouth to keep their hands free. Investigative experts noted that the person's eyes and eyebrows are visible through the mask and may have dark facial hair or a moustache. The individual was seen approaching Nancy Guthrie's front door, staring into the doorbell camera, and then covering it with plants he pulled from the victim's garden. As the footage surfaced, some investigators shared their theory that two suspects were present in the case.
A private investigator named Steve Fischer took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his views on the presence of not one but two persons of interest. He based his theory on his observation of the FBI-released security cam footage. Steve further expressed scepticism about an Adult Protective Services investigator leaving his card on Nancy Guthrie's door before she went missing. Citing his concerns, Steve Fischer wrote:
"It sure appears like two different guys in the surveillance to me. And why did an investigator from Adult Protective Services leave a card on the door before the crime happened? Their website says they are 'responsible for investigating allegations of abuse, exploitation and neglect of vulnerable adults'."
Besides Steve, another official echoed similar sentiments. FBI veteran, Michael Biasello reportedly spoke to Paul Sperry about his prediction that two men were required to carry the 84-year-old, Nancy Guthrie out of her home. Referring to the security cam footage, Michael mentioned that one kidnapper seemed to have gestured to his accomplice while covering Nancy's front door camera with leaves. Paul Sperry quoted Michael Biasello as saying:
"After he pulls the foliage, he appears to make a small gesture to someone off camera. I believe two people were necessary to move and carry the victim."
Some social media users claim the masked individual matches the physical profile of Annie Guthrie's husband and Nancy Guthrie's son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, specifically citing his build and facial hair (moustache and beard). "I've been suspicious about this guy for a week. Intruder has the same slow shoulders, oaffy build & dark facial hair too," an X user wrote. The public further based their prediction on the fact that "the intruder sure knew the area around the Nest camera," since they had concealed it effectively. Besides Tommaso, the other name that has come up a lot is Tommaso Cioni's Early Black bandmate and longtime friend, Dominic Evans.
Online speculation intensified after several X users claimed that Dominic Evans' athletic build and visible facial hair (dark mustache and goatee) aligned with the individual in the FBI footage. "The lips and eyes [of the suspect and Dominic] are uncanny," an online user stated. Many others agreed, sharing similar suspicions not only because of his physical appearance but also because of his past criminal record.
An X (formerly Twitter) user, @JLRINVESTIGATES, shared a screenshot that included Dominic Aaron's criminal record. It showcased felony charges of burglary, robbery, theft and embezzlement levied against the Early Black member. The information was attributed to the Az Pima Court. His crimes and his close ties with with Tommaso Cioni brought unwanted attention to him. Notably, both men are based in the Tucson, Arizona area, close to Nancy Guthrie's residence, putting them under suspicion. The post about Dominic could be read as:
"I think everyone in that inner circle should be looked at and fully vetted. Including this guy, Dominic Evans. He's Tommaso Cioni's friend & bandmate. Has arrests for burglary, robbery, embezzlement, DUI."
