In a recent candid conversation, Milind Soman's ex, Shahana Goswami, shared what went wrong in their long-term relationship.
The 60-year-old model-turned-actor, Milind Soman, is widely known for his strong physique. The handsome hunk is married to the love of his life, Ankita Konwar. The couple has been married since 2018. However, it is their significant age gap that often grabs the limelight. Now, in a candid conversation, Milind’s ex-flame, Shahana Goswami, opened up about their past relationship. For the unversed, before finding love in Ankita, Milind was in a long-term relationship with actress, Shahana Goswami.
Actress, Shahana Goswami recently sat for a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan. During the conversation, Shahana recalled how she fell in love with model-turned-actor, Milind. Recalling the moment, Shahana mentioned that when she was 16 or 17, she went to watch Milind’s film, Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula, along with her friends. Initially, she thought it would be a bad experience, but after watching Milind, she was just mesmerised. Following this, she became obsessed with him. In her words:
"When I was 16-17 years old, I was in Delhi, and one of Milind’s films (Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula) had been released at that time. My school friends and I went to see that film. I also thought, 'Why are we going to watch a model’s film?' It would have very bad acting, but I was mesmerised by Milind in the film. After the film, I was obsessed with him. See how destiny played."
Shahana stated that at the time, she tried to find Milind’s address to send letters. However, she got his cellphone number, texted him and wished him on his birthday. She also got an immediate reply from Milind. But they stopped talking after the text exchange. Six years later, at some time, they were both single and began dating. She said, "We met only three times. We bumped into each other. Six years later, at some point when we both were single, I messaged him, and then we started dating."
For the uninitiated, Shahana and Milind shared an age gap of 21 years. Back then, Milind was 43, and Shahana was 22. During the same conversation, Shahana revealed that the age gap didn’t bother her as she was way more mature than her age. She recalled the lessons she learned from Milind. She added that in their relationship, she was very honest and very open. She was quoted as saying:
"I never felt so at that time. I was always way more mature than my age. I didn’t feel the age difference in that sense. I learnt a lot from him, like he used to say, ‘Nobody is responsible for your happiness or sadness.’ That was a very important lesson and I feel like it resonated with me. Even in terms of our relationship, I was very honest, communicative and very open to discussion."
Further, in the conversation, Shahana opened up about what went wrong in her relationship with Milind Soman. Shahana mentioned that till the very end, they were in love with each other. She explained that when two people in a relationship are not able to sync, they need to let it go. Shahana stated that she believes in loving deeply, but believes in freedom at the same time. She highlighted that at that time, she understood that a conventional relationship was not for her. Explaining in detail what led to their split, Shahana said:
"It’s just about timing. Till the very end, we were in love with each other. When you see that a relationship is not able to sync, you have to let it go. I have learnt over time that if you keep people trapped with yourself, that’s not love. Let them be. That was also a difference between us. It was a natural realisation that we are no longer compatible. We have a lot of love for each other, but we don’t want the same things in the relationship."
