The family was vacationing at Great Wolf Lodge when police got a call at around 3:13 p.m. on October 12, 2026, after Metallica Harrison made a call to 911 and asked for help dying. Soon, officers reached the place and found Metallica injured and her husband and son dead on separate mattresses.

Metallica Harrison had never wanted to be a mother. Due to this, she resented her son, whom she gave birth to three years ago, for stealing her husband's attention. This disturbing allegation has been part of the search warrant. The 27-year-old mother was dominant, controlling, and was resentful towards the child, as she never wanted to get pregnant.
These shocking revelations were made by her husband's mother and his sister. As per the search-warrant application obtained by WNEP, Metallica admitted that she was upset with the child taking away one-on-one time between her and her husband, Charles. The application also stated that the woman isolated her husband's family from him and his son.
Metallica reportedly stabbed her husband and son in the chest before trying to take her own life. When police arrived at the Poconos resort, she told them she was 'suicidal and not stupid', and didn't say anything more. She even talked about being the best mother while she was getting treated. She said:
"Every day I work so hard. To be the best person, the best mother, the best wife. It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child."
During the harrowing 911 call, Metallica made statements indicating her family was dead and expressed frustration about her failed suicide attempt. She faces two counts of criminal homicide, which include stabbing her husband, Charles Harrison, to death, and the child, whose name has not been released.
Talking about the fateful day, when the cops entered Room 2030, they found the bodies of the father and son lying on a mattress with multiple stab wounds to the chest. The police reports claim that a butchering knife was found on the bathroom floor and a smaller knife in the bathroom sink. They also found several suspected containers of blood and medication bottles.
The family first checked in at Great Wolf Lodge on September 21, 2026. They had planned their vacation till October 5, 2026, but they extended their stay. Currently, Metallica is in police custody; before that, she was treated at a hospital in Stroudsburg, which is a nearby town, as she had cuts on her left wrist and small stab wounds on her neck.
Netizens expressed their shock on Reddit. One user wrote, "It’s not unusual for women who kill their kid to take the kid on a last hurrah. I remember a woman who took her son to a water park and zoo in Wisconsin. She later committed suicide and in her note said her son was safe somewhere he’d never be found, but he’s presumably dead in a forest or somewhere similar."
A second user commented, "Looks like a possible murder-suicide, and she could not end herself. So sad a thing to be motivated to do such a thing. Especially to your 3-year-old child."
