Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleLSU head coach Lane Kiffin is once again making college football news. For those unaware, Lane recently recruited two of his former players who signed contracts with NFL teams as undrafted free agents this offseason. Former Ole Miss defensive lineman Zxavian Harris had initially signed with the New Orleans Saints before being waived in early August 2026. He will now be joining LSU.
The Tigers have also snatched Dae’Quan Wright after the Cleveland Browns waived him. Now, as Lane Kiffin is grabbing headlines for his move, the focus has shifted to his personal life. He was previously married to Layla Reaves and shares three kids with her.
Just like Lane Kiffin’s moves in the football world, his personal life has always been the talk of the town. Lane tied the knot with Layla Reaves, daughter of the former NFL quarterback John Reaves, in 2004. Their marriage lasted for over a decade, which is why it left many shocked when it was announced that they had decided to separate. At that time, a lot of rumors surfaced, especially accusations of infidelity.
Even after their divorce was finalized, it did not stop the media hype. As per reports, Lane has been paying nearly 35 per cent of his income to Layla. It is believed that she lives with the pair’s three children, Landry, Presley, and Knox, in a USD 10,000-per-monthhome in Manhattan Beach. Back then, Lane had requested that the media and fans leave his family alone.
During an appearance on The Pivot Podcast, one of the hosts, Fred Taylor, directly asked Lane Taylor, “Coach, listen, I'm not a rumor guy, right, but sometimes I see the rumors. Is there like old-new love in the air in the Kiffin family right now?” Lane did not shy away from revealing how things really stood between him and his ex-wife. The head coach said:
“The family’s back together, maybe not in a traditional way necessarily. My daughter goes to school here; she’s a sophomore. Landry, my second daughter, is going to USC. And then my son is moving here to start 10th grade, and his mom, my ex-wife, is moving here as well. So there’s a lot of stuff going on within that.”
In another interview, Lane Kiffin, who served as the head coach of USC and Tennessee from 2009 to 2013, also opened up about what led to his divorce from his ex-wife, Layla. Speaking about what he could have done differently, he said:
“I was a head coach at Tennessee and USC, and I was like, that was my higher power. Man, I’m the head coach at USC, and that’s who I am. Not like, oh, I’m a husband, not I’m a father. Like that became my higher power. That was the most important thing to me, and I could feel it.”
According to Lane, it was the neglect of his personal life that led to his divorce. He and Layla split up in 2016, and the head coach admitted that it was no wonder he also ended up having a strained relationship with his kids after his divorce. In his words:
“I ended up getting divorced. No wonder that I end up having a strained relationship with my kids. And then I kind of figured this out later on.”
Similar to Lane Kiffin, his ex-wife, Layla, also has some experience in the sports field. She has previously worked as an assistant volleyball coach at the University of Tennessee, which is where she first met Lane. At that time, Lane was working there as an offensive coordinator. As their relationship progressed, the duo tied the knot and remained together for nearly 12 years.
