In his latest findings, Jensen revealed he’s found nine witnesses who claim to have been at Cobain’s Seattle home on the night he died. Investigator claims Kurt Cobain’s suicide note was forged

Not just the witnesses, Jensen also hired two handwriting experts to check on Cobain’s suicide note. The experts determined parts of Cobain’s suicide note were forged. Yes, you read that right. As per Jensen, both experts found that the final four sentences of the suicide note did not match Kurt Cobain’s handwriting patterns. In his report, Jensen revealed that he felt that the initial investigation had botched the case.

Forensic scientists challenged the suicide angle in Kurt Cobain’s death

In November 2025, a team of international forensic experts led by investigator Michelle Wilkins published a peer-reviewed paper. The paper presented ten major pieces of evidence suggesting that Cobain’s death was a ‘murder’ and not a ‘suicide’. The experts stated that the lethal heroin levels in Cobain’s blood would have rendered him unconscious, and an unconscious person couldn’t have shot himself.

The team of experts also pointed out that Cobain’s organs showed signs of hypoxia typical of overdose death, not instant gunshot trauma. Wilkins further stated that Kurt was first forced into an overdose, then shot in the head by another person, and later left alone with a 'forged suicide note'. She also alleged that the blood pattern analysis has indicated that Kurt Cobain's body may have been moved after death.

Everything about Kurt Cobain’s death

Kurt Donald Cobain was one of the most loved American musicians, who was the lead member of the band, Nirvana. He was one of the most influential musicians, but his fame was short-lived, as the singer tragically passed away in 1994 at the mere age of 27. Cobain's body was discovered in Seattle on April 8, 1994, by an electrician. A suicide note was also found near his body. Later, the report stated that Cobain had actually died on 5 April 1994.

An investigation determined that days earlier, Cobain had gone into the greenhouse of his home and taken a massive dose of heroin. He then shot himself with a 20-gauge shotgun. The King County Medical Examiner ruled that Cobain died from a self-inflicted shotgun wound and closed the case, concluding it a suicide.
