Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleThe all-girls K-Pop group, Katseye, cancelled their sold-out show just 30 minutes before it was set to start. This left their many fans in tears. The group received major backlash from people who spent thousands of dollars to be part of it. People are still in shock and want answers as to why they called off the show after the sound check.
The group consists of Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Yoonchae Jeung, Manon Bannerman, Megal Skiendiel, and Sophia Laforteza. The show, which was going to take place at Little Caesars Arena, was cancelled at 7:30, just 30 minutes before the show. The message on the screens said that they had postponed the show due to illness, and it read:
"We’re sorry to share that the Katseye show scheduled for tonight at Little Caesars Arena has been postponed due to illness."
People who had driven from far away places were left heartbroken. One of the attendees, Jessica Lenhardt, drove five and a half hours from Skokie, III., and spent USD 5,000 on VIP tickets, travel, and her daughters' outfits. She called it shocking and hoped for several minutes that the show would begin. She said:
"It was shocking that they went through and kind of kept our hopes up until a few minutes before the show. So I do think that if things were going wrong since the morning or even a day before, we should’ve been notified maybe 24 hours at least in advance, and they could’ve saved a lot of people coming from out of town the time and effort to get there."
Many attendees were left in tears and revealed that there were many children in LCA who started crying, and it was extremely sad. One of the mothers also questioned why they waited for the show to be cancelled at the last minute, as the venue was full and everybody was there. The mother said:
"Why was it so last-minute? That’s insanely close to showtime. The venue was full. Everybody was already there. Because it was canceled so close to start time, that just seemed really suspect to me. If someone is sick, they’re sick. It just seems that would have been established well before 7:30."
A few members of the group, including Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj and Yoonchae Jeung, had already attended the VIP meet-and-greet session and even performed two songs during a pre-show soundcheck. However, after announcing the cancellation, the group apologised to fans and said it was due to the illness of their member Megan.
Netizens on Reddit shared their thoughts. One user wrote, "This is so unprofessional; in any other job, if you called in 39 minutes before your shift, you would be fired on the spot. And who decides to drink before a big show? She wasn't sick; she was HUNGOVER."
Another user commented, "The group and their management are so messy right now. This is gonna be their downfall. The girls are not in good shape, yet HYBE Geffen still cannot cancel the tour. They even added shows for next year. I know sickness is inevitable; that's why they should just cancel everything and let the girls rest first. They can't just play with people like this."
The group was formed in 2024 in Los Angeles during the show, Popstar Academy: Katseye. As per reports, Manon Bannerman and Sophia Laforteza have been on hiatus for several months. Despite the group facing lineup changes, it remains on top and even performed on Saturday Night Live in September 2026. The group also got a Grammy nomination this year.
