In 1979, she got married to Rick Hilton, and the couple has been together for decades now, with their family expanding to kids and grandkids. So, who is Kathy Hilton's husband? Let's have a look!
Kathy Hilton is married to Rick Hilton. The duo met as teenagers at a party. Talking about the same, during an episode of RHOBH, Kathy shared that they kind of grew up together as they started very young. On her social media posts, Kathy often tags Rick as her 'forever date'.
Kathy revealed that her wedding to Rick somewhat changed her in a way. She has always been into philanthropy, and after her marriage, she got a push to do more of it. Talking to Bravo Insider in 2021, Kathy shared that when she got married, she chose multiple career options after her marriage, and those actually opened several doors to charity. Sharing how after-marriage life was, Kathy said:
"So I was exposed to all of these different organizations and that kind of played into my love of entertaining. I would be going through and picking out the china with the client and the tablecloths, just all the little details. And then I started being invited to be on different boards in New York."
It was in 1979 when Kathy Hilton tied the knot with real estate entrepreneur Rick Hilton. Kathy, on her social media, often shares glimpses that date back to the early stage of her and her husband's relationship, one of them being their anniversary posts. In one of the posts, Kathy and Rick were seen sharing a kiss in their wedding outfits while standing in front of their wedding cake.
Kathy and Rick have four kids: daughters Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton Rothschild, and sons Barron Hilton and Conrad Hilton. While speaking to Interview, in 2021, Kathy said that her only regret is not having another kid. Kathy is really close to her kids, but she also believes in the fine line between a mom and a friend. Speaking to TooFab, Kathy talked about her parenting style, and mentioned that her kids were never overly spoiled, as they had to make their own beds, pay for half of their cars and more. She said:
"My children were not overly spoiled. They had to make their beds. They had to line up their shoes. Paris and Nicky each paid for half of their cars, which they didn't get until they were 19 and 20, respectively."
Rick Hilton was born in 1955 to Barron Hilton and Marilyn June Hawley, and he is the sixth of his seven siblings. Rick Hilton is the grandson of Conrad N. Hilton, who founded Hilton Hotels. The hotel mogul began his career at the age of 12, when he would go door-to-door to sell stationery. During that time, it was his father who told him that he would make more money if he worked as an entrepreneur rather than simply working for someone. Rick earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Denver in hotel and restaurant management.
It was in 1984 when Rick Hilton opened Hilton Realty, and in 1993, he founded luxury real estate brokerage Hilton & Hyland, along with Jeff Hyland, which by 2021 reached the scale of USD 4 billion in annual sales. Talking about the same, Rick, on a YouTube podcast, shared that the brand they created now has global recognition. For the unversed, Hilton & Hyland grabbed attention after selling Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion for USD 100 million, along with transacting Candy Spelling's estate for USD 85 million in 2011, and then again for USD 119.75 million in 2019. In the same year, Rick Hilton's partner, Jeff Hyland, passed away due to cancer.
In a YouTube video, Rick Hilton shared that it didn't happen overnight that they built Hilton & Hyland, and they had to work really hard, and through this time, he remembered what his father said to him, which was that it could take his entire life to build an empire and just a few minutes to lose it all. Given this, Rick said that their main focus remained on authenticity and ethics. In 2024, Rick Hilton started his own firm with his son, Barron Hilton and named it Hilton & Hilton. Although he belongs to a businessman family, who were behind Hilton Hotels, he doesn't have any ties there, as shared by Kathy Hilton, during an interview with Andy Cohen.
Although Rick Hilton has not collaborated with Kathy Hilton in the film projects, he is really supportive of her career in the glamour world. He liked his wife on RHOBH, and even gave her a coaching when, during the show, she was fighting with Garcelle Beauvais and Dorit Kemsley arguing at a table, stating that she should have been a little more aggressive and not being all the way down at the table, as shared by Kathy.
Kathy and Rick have been together for decades now, and it actually means they have to do the constant work to keep it all going. Speaking about the same, in an interview with PEOPLE, Kathy said that in their decades-long marriage, it never happened that they stayed away from each other for more than two weeks. Kathy also mentioned that the main thing they do is to make up for any kind of fight before going to bed. As per Kathy, if even disagreement happens, the main thing to do is to make it up. Kathy said:
"I don't think you go to bed without saying, ‘I love you,’ and giving each other a kiss and never in a fight or anything. If you have had a disagreement, you always make up before you go to sleep and keep a little mystery and always keep it exciting and fun."
