Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleJoey King began her career as a prominent child actor in Hollywood and is now one of its leading stars. Joey was recently seen in the movie, Practical Magic 2, where she played the role of 'Kylie Owens'.
The movie was released in theatres on September 10, 2026, and while reviews were mixed, Joey's performance has been well-received by the audience. Joey is being praised for her role as 'Kylie'. Speaking of her upcoming projects, she will be seen in January Rain and Bambo, and both are in production.
The actress has been busy with a packed schedule, and amid this, she's opening up about the buzz about her plastic surgery. It was back in May 2026 when Joey King sparked gossip about going under the knife. Joey's followers were shocked to notice some changes on her face, which brought the conversation about plastic surgery up again.
The same topic has been widely discussed in the blocks of the entertainment world. While some of the celebrities felt that they could be open about it, others remained strictly private about their choices.
And then comes Joey King, who recently addressed the buzz about her facelift while talking about the reason behind her looking different at the Met Gala. For Met Gala 2026, Joey King opted for a gorgeous Miu Miu outfit. She looked simply stunning in a blush-pink tulle gown, featuring silver crystal embellishments designed in flame patterns.
Soft curls and dewy makeup were enough to add extra charm to her look. However, her fans felt that she might have done some work to her face, a facelift, to be specific. However, it was not the case. Speaking on the In Your Dreams podcast, Joey King mentioned that she didn't get a facelift, but she was actually on a 36-hour fast and also got a spray tan. To quote Joey:
"I didn’t get a facelift. I’m glad we’re talking about this. Can I tell you what I did? So, didn’t get a facelift. Just want to let you know. Didn’t get work done. What I did do… I got a spray tan. Fine, whatever. And then I did a 36-hour fast. No food, nothing but water, right? Which I don’t promote that.”
In the same interview, Joey King mentioned that she was on a bachelor party and was drinking too much. The actress shared that she was looking 'swollen', and that was the same reason that she thought of a reset by opting for a 24-hour fast (which can be done if someone is healthy enough, and the actress doesn't promote that). Joey King went on to reveal that her fast ended up being a 36-hour thing, and before the Met Gala, she opted for a lymphatic massage. On top of that, Joey also had a facial before she got ready for the Met Gala.
According to Joey King, the reason her face looked different, as it was claimed, was her 36-hour fast, the lymphatic massage, and the facial that she did, and not necessarily a facelift or any kind of surgery. The actress attempted to look gorgeous for the big event and did everything she could do. Well, everything just worked, so well that people ended up thinking that Joey had gotten some work done on her face. She said:
"So I did fast, a lymphatic massage for the body and face, a facial, and another face massage. Like we were doing everything we could to look amazing on the carpet. And guess what? It worked because everybody thought I had plastic surgery, but I didn’t.”
