It was on January 21, 2026 (ET) that the family shared a lengthy note, stating they allegedly received a phone call about the release less than 15 minutes before the photos were made public, as per RadarOnline.com. For the unversed, Kylee was among the four University of Idaho students, including Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin, who were brutally stabbed to death by Bryan Kohberger at an off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho, in the early morning hours of November 13, 2022.

What did Kaylee Goncalves' family say about the release of the crime scene pictures?

Kaylee Goncalves' family took to their Facebook account soon after the crime scene photos were released and shared a lengthy note. The victim's family revealed that they received a call just 12 minutes before the pictures were made public. They shared that it was the only 'heads up' they received. They were quoted as saying:

"We got a call at 11:04 a.m. that photos would be released this afternoon. By the time the call ended (12 minutes later) the photos had already been released (likely they had been available before the call we just didn't know it yet). That's the 'heads up' we received."

In the same note, Kaylee Gonclaves also shared that, while it is difficult to picture what it must be like to be in their place, they urged netizens to be kind. They further stressed how this wasn't entertainment or content, but someone's daughter, son, brother and sister. They also quoted how some 'self-claimed detectives' would now try to analyse the pictures and called it 'disrespectful'. The note could be read as:

"Please be kind, and as difficult as it is, place yourself outside yourself & consume the content as if it were for a loved one. Your daughter, your sister, your son or brother. Murder isn't entertainment, and crime scene photos aren't content. In addition, we know so many of you armchair detectives will turn this into your show (profits) by zooming in on things, 'analysing blood splatter', and suggesting that things 'don't add up' yada yada yada. It's disrespectful and gross."

The Goncalves family concluded the note by apologising to their daughter, Kaylee. They expressed that it wasn't fair that people who didn't even know her were now making posts about her and alleging things far from the truth. However, they find peace knowing that she is now in heaven and has no idea about the hate and ugliness that's been left behind. They stated:

"Kaylee Jade, I am so sorry that this has happened to you. I am so sorry that people who never even knew you now post about you, suggesting things about your life that are so untrue. We will never quit fighting for you. The best thing about all of this is that you are in Heaven and you have no idea of the hate and ugliness. I love you, Kaylee Jade."
