Hansika Motwani was in the headlines not because of her movie or acting performance, but due to her personal life, which was suddenly being discussed by the media and people. It all started in 2025, when many people noticed that Hansika had deleted all her wedding photos with Sohael Kathuriya. A week ago, Hansika officially filed for divorce after being with him for 1.7 years. Now, it seems like she is all set to start a new chapter of her life.
Hansika Motwani took to her Instagram handle and shared a series of photos with her mother as she sought blessings at the Golden Temple. She visited the place with her mother. In the photos, she was seen sitting by the jheel on the Gurudwara's pavement. For the unversed, they were granted a divorce by the Bandra family court in Mumbai. Hansika was dressed up in a purple-hued suit. Along with it, she wrote:
"Held by him, always. Waheguru di meher naal."
As per a recent report in India Today, Hansika had approached the court to file for a divorce by mutual consent. However, she had decided not to make any alimony claims as part of the separation. Hansika was represented by advocate Adnan Shaikh. He claimed that the couple had been living away from each other since 2024.
Regarding what led to their divorce, it is stated that the two realised their temperaments, opinions and lifestyles were significantly different. This would often lead to frequent disagreements between them. The report further stated that the couple's parents, relatives, and friends attempted to help them reconcile, but their efforts to mend the relationship failed. The two have been living apart since July 2, 2024. They both have submitted their affidavits confirming that they don't have any claims or demands against each other.
For the unversed, there was a lot of buzz that Hansika married her best friend's husband. The controversy started when Hansika announced her marriage with Sohael in December 2022. The two married at the luxurious Mundota Fort and Palace, which was attended by her close family and friends. Soon, reports surfaced that it was Sohael's second wedding.
However, videos and pictures surfaced, wherein Hansika even attended Sohael's first wedding with Rinky Bajaj, who was the actress's best friend. This led to intense trolling and scrutiny as Hansika was called a home-wrecker. Later, Hansika addressed the buzz around the same during her wedding show, which streamed on JioHotstar. She talked about getting trolled and people claiming that she ruined her best friend's life. In the first episode of Love Shadi Drama, Hansika addressed the reports. She stated that just because she had known the person at that time doesn't mean it was her fault. She said:
"Just because I knew the person at that time doesn't mean it was my fault. I have nothing to do with this. Because I am a public figure, it was very easy for people to point at me and make me the villain. This was a price I pay for being a celebrity."
Further, Sohael Khaturiya also shared his side of the story and stated that the news about his first marriage came out in a negative light. He revealed that he got married in 2014, and the marriage didn't last long. Sohael stated that since photos of Hansika from his first wedding surfaced, people made up the story. He shared:
“The news that I was previously married came out and it came out in a wrong light. It came out as if the breakup was because of Hansika, which is absolutely untrue and baseless. I was first married in 2014, and that marriage lasted for a very short time. But just because we have been friends and someone saw pictures of her attending my wedding, is why this speculation started. I was taken aback by all attention I was getting suddenly."
