'Dhurandhar' was recently released on Netflix. However, it seems to have left fans fuming over the censorship in the online streaming version.
Dhurandhar has finally been released on the OTT platform on its scheduled date. While the audience had expected the film to stream on OTT a little later, given its phenomenal run in theatres and its Rs. 1,000-crore box-office score, the makers have stuck to the date. The film was released on Netflix on January 30, 2026. However, the fans are left fuming over the censorship applied to the digital release.
Dhurandhar finally got its big OTT release, debuting on Netflix at midnight, prompting fans to rush to the platform to rewatch the film. Even those who didn't get a chance to watch it in cinemas tuned in to catch the Hindi film dubbed into Tamil and Telugu. However, there was one major difference in the film, and the viewers are not happy with it. Fans noticed that, despite receiving an 'A' rating, several scenes in the film were censored.
Soon after, the audience flooded social media, expressing their dismay at Dhurandhar being censored on OTT platforms. Social media was abuzz with complaints and sharp criticism from viewers, who accused the streaming platform of muting dialogue, censoring abusive language, and trimming 10 minutes from the film. Fans expressed anger that the film was censored on an over-18 platform.
Enraged by the edits, fans of the Aditya Dhar-directed film took to social media to express their dismay. Dhurandhar fans said they expected an uncensored version after its theatrical run. Several users even questioned the logic of censoring an adult film on a platform that was meant for an audience over the age of 18. A user penned, "You certify the film as A, but you have muted/censored words! Like, are we a bunch of 5-year-olds or what? Everyone in this app is over 18; there's no meaning in watching a film with lots of cuts and censoring. You're just stealing the natural raw vibe from it."
Another user shared, "#Dhurandhar on Netflix with muted dialogues + censored abuses. If OTT isn’t giving us the uncut version, who is?" A comment read, "Noooooo #Dhurandhar on Netflix still has the gaalis censored! Bhai, what is the point of releasing on OTT if you censor the best parts?" A user penned, "A big letdown from you people @NetflixIndia. Why the hell would you censor it when everyone is expecting an uncensored version!! Censoring an A-rated film itself is a joke, whereas Animal and Kabir Singh have no cuts."
Fans also noticed that Dhurandhar was released with a shorter runtime on Netflix. They pointed out how, not only were the curse words muted, but certain scenes were also edited from the film. Many fans noticed that the film's runtime was significantly shorter. Viewers alleged that the OTT version of the film had been trimmed by nearly 10 minutes. Dhurandhar reportedly ran for approximately 3 hours and 34 minutes in theatres, while the digital version runs for around 3 hours and 25 minutes.
Dhurandhar was released on the OTT platform, Netflix, 8 weeks after the film debuted in cinemas on December 5, 2025. The film features a stellar cast including R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and Ranveer Singh. Following its digital release, the makers are now gearing up for Dhurandhar 2, which has been slated for March 19, 2026.
