Amid Nancy Guthrie's son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, being the alleged prime suspect in her kidnapping, Annie Guthrie's old statement, in which she praised her husband, has gone viral.
Savannah Guthrie, the renowned host of The Today Show, is going through a tough time in her personal life. For the unversed, Savannah’s mom, Nancy, has gone missing and was last seen on January 31, 2026. It’s been more than a week, and the Guthrie family hasn’t got a trace of 84-year-old Nancy. While the investigation is still on, according to the latest reports, Nancy’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, is allegedly the prime suspect in her kidnapping. Amid the reported suspicion, an old statement in which Tommaso’s wife, Annie Guthrie, praised him has gone viral.
According to a report by US Weekly, Annie was the last person known to see her mom, Nancy, before her mysterious disappearance. It was Annie who dropped Nancy home on the evening of January 31, 2026. Now that the investigation to search for Nancy is still on, according to the latest reports, Nancy’s son-in-law and Annie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni, is the alleged prime suspect in her kidnapping. Amid this, Annie’s old statement, in which she lauded her husband, has gone viral. In a 2013 interview with Women’s Quarterly Conversation, Annie called her husband a 'greatest teacher' and 'manifester'. She was quoted as saying:
"My husband Tommaso Cioni is my greatest teacher. He is a great manifester; he writes poetry with his lifestyle."
As reported by Hindustan Times, the Pima County Sheriff, during a press conference shared on February 9, 2026, stated whether Tomasso Cioni is the 'prime suspect' in Nancy Guthrie’s abduction. On being asked whether Annie’s husband has any connection with Nancy’s disappearance, the Pima County Sheriff reportedly said that no one has been ruled out yet. Earlier, journalist, Ashleigh Banfield claimed on her podcast that it might be possible that Tommaso is a person of interest, because he was the last known person to see her alive.
According to Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, 84-year-old Nancy went out for dinner with her family, including her daughter, Annie. She was brought back to her home around 9:30 or 9:45 p.m on January 31, 2026. According to a report by People, Nancy is believed to have been kidnapped in the early morning hours of February 1, 2026, from her residence. For the uninitiated, Savannah and Annie’s mom, Nancy, lived alone in her house in the Catalina Foothills neighbourhood of Tucson, Ariz.
A while ago, Savannah Guthrie re-shared pictures and a video featuring her mom, Nancy’s potential kidnapper. Earlier, the FBI authorities shared the surveillance snaps. Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos recently shared a statement on X (formerly Twitter) connected to Nancy’s disappearance. In the statement, Chris mentioned how the armed individual tried to tamper with the camera at Nancy’s front door on the morning of her disappearance. The statement can be read as:
"Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff's Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie's home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors, including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems. Working with our partners - as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance."
