The Colombian beauty content creator used social media to share lifestyle content and had thousands of followers who waited for her updates. Her sudden death left them shocked. Amid that, they revisited her last post.
Sophia Murillo left the world too soon. The influencer who had a combined following of over 250,000 across Instagram and TikTok shared her final post on August 5, 2026. It was just three days before the fatal helicopter crash claimed her life. The TikTok post featured a video of her gym routine. 17-year-old Sophia took care of her body and health and often shared her gym deets with her followers.
Following the news of Sophia's death, her last post has been revisited and her heartbroken fans and close ones flooded the comment section with condolences and tributes. "My dear Sofia, I found out what happened a few hours ago; I don't know how to express myself or what to say, but I know I will always miss you," wrote a friend of hers sharing her condolences for the late internet star.
Sophia's friend continued, "You were - and always will be - my best friend, my comfort and my joy. I will always be grateful for that because you were the friend I had wanted my whole life, and now I know you will be the happiest princess in heaven. Go and laugh, jump and be happy because I know you are in a better place now - God's princess. I am at peace, my princess, because I know you achieved all your dreams, and I was actually a part of them."
According to reports, Sophia Murillo passed away alongside her mother, Wendy Manrique, 37, her grandmother Rocio Cubillos, 59, and their helicopter's pilot, Alessandro Rocha after the aircraft crashed near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The late influencer's uncle, Victor Manrique, told media outlet G1 that the family was in Brazil on vacation and had booked a 20-minute helicopter ride around the Christ the Redeemer through local tour agency Voo Rio Panorâmico to marvel at the iconic tourist attraction.
As per Sophia's uncle, the Robinson R44 helicopter carrying the 17-year-old, her mom and her grandmother departed at 11 a.m. while the rest of their family stayed back to board the next flight. The family members then saw that mid-tour, Sophia's aircraft went down and crashed into a steep, dense forest hillside within Tijuca Forest, which is a heavily wooded area near Vista Chinesa. Thus, the horrific incident took place right in front of the eyes of Sophia's near and dear ones.
As per reports, the helicopter caught fire upon impact of the crash landing. Emergency workers and firefighters arrived quickly at the scene, which was reportedly a heavily wooded and difficult-to-reach place. They then confirmed that all four individuals on board, including the pilot, were killed on the spot. Even their bodies couldn't be identified as they were burnt. What exactly caused the mishap hasn't been revealed.
Brazil's Aeronautical Accidents Investigation and Prevention Centre (Cenipa) and local civil police have launched an investigation into the aircraft crash. From mechanical faults to environmental causes, they haven't ruled out any possible cause.
