Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleAfter a long wait, Lioness Season 3 is finally here. For those unaware, the spy thriller created by Taylor Sheridan was renewed less than a year after the second season’s finale dropped. The series stars Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana in titular roles. Now that CIA supervisor ‘Kaitlyn Meade’ and Lioness lead ‘Joe McNamara’ are back, the stakes are higher than ever.
Zoe Saldana opens up about the Lioness Season 3 premiere twist
Just minutes into the first episode of Lioness Season 3, Zoe Saldana’s CIA operative is thrown into danger. It opens with ‘Joe McNamara’ being ambushed. Not only that, she is pepper-sprayed and kidnapped violently before anyone can even realize how she found herself in such a terrifying situation. However, Zoe claimed that this perfectly highlights her character’s life. She said:
“I mean, for Joe, it feels like it’s a Taco Tuesday. I’m telling you, these are the things that happen to this poor woman because of the world that she has chosen for herself and the vocation that she has taken upon herself to fulfill in her life.”
There is no doubt that in the series, ‘Joe’ has continued to put herself in harm’s way. According to Zoe, it is her character’s unwavering loyalty to ‘Caitlyn Meade’ that always leads her into dangerous situations. She said, “You know, she respects and admires and looks up to Caitlyn in such a strong way. And she knows how devoted Caitlyn is to her country, and honestly, it’s what drives Joe.”

Zoe added that it is her character's fear of never wanting to let ‘Caitlyn’ down or let anyone get killed that drives her to do the things she does. And if that means putting herself in danger, ‘Joe’ will always readily do that. Zoe explained:
“And also the fear of never wanting to let Caitlyn down or get anybody killed, especially a Lioness, is what keeps Joe always waking up every morning and giving the best of herself. It always comes at the cost of putting herself in danger, and now danger has knocked on our door, unfortunately.”
Nicole Kidman on the enormous pressure that her character feels in Lioness Season 3
Apart from Zoe Saldana, her co-star Nicole Kidman also opened up about how her character ‘Caitlyn' has a lot of pressure on her. Despite this, fans will not get to see the seasoned CIA supervisor unravel on screen. Nicole said:
“I think when you’re dealing with somebody like Caitlyn, she is so wired, and literally her brain has been altered by the way in which she’s been trained. So it’s not about cracking. She’s strategic. She’s able to compartmentalize. She’s built for this world and this job. She’s just that person. She’s chosen the right career for who she is.”

However, on the off chance that ‘Caitlyn’ does crack, Nicole claims that her character does not even believe there is a cracking. So when she cracks, she is always quiet and strategic about it and does her best to come up with a plan.
When it comes to decision-making, Nicole claims that ‘Caitlyn’s’ patriotism is what shapes them. And because she is so incredibly patriotic, all those who work for her also have to pledge their allegiance to the flag, and if they don't, they can simply go find another job. She stated, “If you want to have balance, don’t come to this job. I would suggest you move to another job because we’re actually working here for a greater good. That’s how she conducts her whole life.”
