The relationship between veteran actors Yatin Karyekar and Iravati Harshe was a highly discussed affair of the 1990s. The duo first met through work and grew close on the sets of the iconic 1994 television serial Shanti. At that time, the 28-year-old Yatin played a 60-year-old business tycoon, while Iravati played his daughter. While portraying father and daughter on screen, they formed a romantic relationship off screen. Although Yatin was too young to play the role of her middle-aged dad in Shanti, he did have a considerable age difference with Iravati.

Yatin Karyekar didn't handle the split from Iravati Harshe well
After two years of secret dating and three years of a live-in relationship, Yatin and Iravati began their spousal journey in 1996. However, things changed suddenly after marriage. In 2001, after five years of marriage, Yatin and Iravati divorced. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Yatin revealed that their marriage broke because Iravati "drifted away."
Speaking about the same, Yatin Karyekar revealed that since he had long shooting schedules and was away for many days, his interactions with Iravati became less frequent, and the distance between them grew. When the host quipped about the same, Yatin said he could not divulge more out of respect for her. In the same conversation, Yatin revealed that since their divorce, he and Iravati have not been in touch or spoken to each other.
During the difficult period before their divorce, Yatin turned to alcohol as his failing marriage devastated him. He struggled with addiction and used to drink daily. His emotions took a toll on him in such a way that he used to sleep for just two hours. It started affecting his health. However, soon he quit drinking after the divorce.
Following their split, Iravati Harshe has moved on with her new family. She is married to Captain Rohit Mayadev, and the couple has two daughters, Devika and Isha Mayadev. Iravati keeps her second marriage and personal life with the Joint General Manager at Air India Limited relatively private and away from the media spotlight.
Since her marriage to Rohit, Iravati has proudly carried his surname in her professional identity. She is often credited as Iravati Harshe Mayadev in major films and television series.
