Yash's Toxic Sparks Comparison With Ranbir Kapoor's Animal, Son-Dad's Complex Bond, Hero's Bare-Body
After a long wait, Yash's movie, 'Toxic', has had its trailer launched, and with that came several reactions from the audience. Now, the conversation is up about its comparison to 'Animal'.

Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleToxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, is set for a theatrical release on August 26, 2026. The trailer dropped on August 8, 2026, and it's simply next level. The movie has already sparked chatter around it, given its delay, and along with Kiara Advani's intimate scene with Yash; however, the almost 5-minute trailer was enough to create a pin-drop silence among the audience.
However, a section of social media users is still discussing the trailer after its release, and the reason is a comparison. The audience found certain similarities between Yash's movie, Toxic and Ranbir Kapoor's movie, Animal, and are now discussing the same on social media.
Toxic's trailer draws comparison with Ranbir Kapoor's Animal
Toxic features Yash and Kiara in the lead roles. Yash is playing dual roles in the movie, as 'Raya' and also as his son, 'Ticket' (or Rumi). 'Raya' is the mob boss who rules the underground world, while 'Ticket' makes his appearance much later, making the plot even more complex.
'Ticket's role seems to bring unpredictability, with scenes where he can be seen engaged in heavy action sequences, which feels very striking in opposition to the scenes where he was left crying. Well, one of the core themes of the movie is the father and son's complex bond, which instantly reminded fans of Ranbir Kapoor's movie, Animal (2023), which was tagged as the highest-grossing of that year.
While the similarity left the audience thinking, another scene hit hard when Yash is seen appearing nude on-screen, something which was also one of the major discussion points from the movie, Animal.
Notably, the trailer didn't reveal the entire plot of Toxic; rather, it kept it under wraps, hinting at heavy action scenes, crimes in the underground world, bloodshed, complex personal bonds, betrayal, an anti-hero protagonist and his dark personality, power struggles, and more. And thus, a section of the audience feels like they should wait before drawing comparisons; however, the other section argues, stating it's too close to Sandeep Reddy Vanga's masterpiece, which collected 900 crore worldwide. Animal is up for its sequel, Animal Park, and the date is TBA.
If we talk about the recent comparisons between Animal and Toxic, there are several visible dissimilarities as well. While in Ranbir's film the lead is driven by the protagonist's obsessive love for his dad, which creates conflicts, in what is shown in Toxic's trailer, it seems the conflict leans more towards power struggles, ambition, greed and betrayal. Animal is set in modern times, while reportedly Toxic follows a timeline of the 1940s to 1970s. So, the differences are clear.

However, people have to wait a few more days to watch the movie. Kiara Advani was being trolled for her intimate scenes, but in the trailer, she proved her acting skills, which the audience is not able to get over right away. Yash needs no introduction when it comes to proving his acting skills, and he did it again. If the reports are to be believed, the movie is budgeted around Rs. 500-1000 crore.
