Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra are undoubtedly the power couple of B-Town. The actor-producer duo makes a fine match and are seldom seen together publicly. The couple’s love for privacy was visible when the duo tied the knot in a hushed wedding ceremony in Italy on April 21, 2014. The madly-in-love couple hopped onto the parenthood journey with the arrival of their daughter, Adira in 2015.
While the couple has been enjoying more than nine years of togetherness, sadly, their journey was not smooth sailing at its initial stages. For the unversed, Rani and Aditya started dating one another shortly after the latter divorced his first wife, Payal Chopra. Things turned complicated when Yash Chopra asked Aditya Chopra to leave their home immediately in a fit of disapproval for his son’s personal life. According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, Aditya walked out of the home immediately and stayed in a five-star hotel for almost a year. The report further highlighted that Aditya was headstrong about living separately until his parents stopped interfering in his personal life.
The sudden twist in situations was highly distasteful to the matriarch, Pamela Chopra. Therefore, she decided to end the cold war with her son, as she was too fond of him to let him go. Therefore, although she and her husband, Yash, were not too fond of Rani being their daughter-in-law, the parents were willing to adjust and accommodate. A report by the Mumbai Mirror back then claimed that:
"Adi is back because his mother was very keen to have her son back home. She does not like Rani much, but has had to bend because she could not stay away from her son. A family reunion has happened and now things are better, though still not fully fine. In fact, he categorically told his parents that he would shift only if they did not interfere in his personal life."
It is often said that the best love stories start with a bit of a rough patch. Things were very similar for Rani and Aditya when they met each other for the first time. It happened that Aditya had seen Rani’s impeccable talents in the film, Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat and had suggested her name to his friend, Karan Johar, who was then auditioning for new faces for his planned film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. As the trio met, Aditya Chopra was visibly upset when Rani Mukerji failed to recognise him back then. In an interview, Rani had once opened up on the same and revealed:
“I first met Adi socially when I was doing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, through Karan. Though Adi tells me that after my first film Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat, he has a very vivid memory of seeing me in Sampan restaurant, where much as he had expected, I did not walk up to him to say a hi even though DDLJ had already released and he was already Aditya Chopra. Since actresses would usually walk up and introduce themselves to him, he found it strange.”

There was a time when Rani Mukerji’s dating rumours with Aditya Chopra took a derogatory turn when people began to label her as a home-breaker.
