Her son and Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy, along with other family members, were present at the hospital.

According to social media reports, Chennamma's son, Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy, and other family members were present at the hospital. The mortal remains of Chennamma will be taken to her family's home and reportedly will reach the family residence by the afternoon of July 19, 2026. The last rites of Chennamma will be held at the family's native place in Hassan district.

The acid attack incident reportedly had stemmed from an ongoing family feud. Chennamma was in the national news when the alleged incident created national headlines and highlighted the security risk faced by the family members of the politician.
She maintained a low-key profile after the incident. She got married to Gowda back in 1954. Chennamma used to largely stay away from the limelight. Former Prime Minister H.D. "We were all hopeful that she would recover and return home from the hospital. It is deeply saddening that this hope did not come true. It is often said that behind every successful man stands a woman. Chennamma stood firmly behind every success of Deve Gowda. She neither lost heart when family members faced defeat nor became overjoyed in victory. Through the ups and downs of politics, she remained his pillar of strength."

Even Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka G Parameshwara had offered condolences to the family and stated that Chennamma was a constant pillar in Gowda's public and political life. He had written on X, "I pray that Shri Deve Gowda and the entire family find the strength to overcome this profound loss." A member from the opposition party had also penned:
"The passing of the matriarch of a family is an irreplaceable loss that can never truly be filled. In this difficult and painful moment, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Shri H D Deve Gowda, Union Minister Shri H D Kumaraswamy and all the members of the Deve Gowda family."
