Who Is Medha Rana? Varun Dawan's 12 Year Younger Co-Star In Border 2, Hails From An Army Background

The iconic war drama Border 2 is slated for release on January 23, 2026, and there is a lot of anticipation for the film. The much-awaited film will star Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, Medha Rana, and others. Medha Rana hails from an Army background

Born in December 1999, in Bangalore, Medha Rana was brought up in a disciplined Army background. Her schooling began at Carmel Convent School in Chandigarh, which was followed by Army Public School in Bengaluru. After completing her schooling, Medha enrolled in a BBA program at Christ University.

Medha Rana was offered modelling while in school

Medha was just 13 when she met Bengaluru-based fashion stylist and choreographer, Prasad Bidapa. She was even offered projects, but Medha didn’t take them seriously and concentrated on her studies. However, when Medha turned 16, she gave serious thought to modelling and pursued it. Revealing how fate played an important role in her journey, Medha revealed in an interview:

“My dad got posted to Bengaluru right after Chandigarh. He's in the army. We then moved to the city and I thought to myself: why don’t I explore this side of the world also? So, when I was 16, I started working with Prasad and there was no turning back after that. One thing led to another."

Medha Rana’s journey from advertisements to movies

After making her modelling debut at 16, Medha featured in commercials for Ponds, Lenskart, TRESemmé, Cadbury, Livon, and Nescafé, among others. She made her acting debut with the 2022 crime thriller web series, London Files, co-starring Arjun Rampal. She also grabbed attention for her role in Netflix's Friday Night Plan, featuring Babil Khan.

She was also part of a Prime Video documentary series called Dancing on the Grave, a true crime series, in which she played a real-life character. Medha has been a part of a few music videos, including Armaan Malik's Barsaat, Anuv Jain's Gul and Aastha Gill's Dil Kissko Du.

Medha Rana is all set to make her Bollywood debut as the female lead opposite Varun Dhawan in the highly anticipated war drama Border 2. Medha, who is 12 years younger than her co-star, Varun Dhawan, is hailed for her simplicity and is expected to bring authenticity to her character. In a media interaction, producer, Bhushan Kumar revealed how Medha surprised everyone with her effortless skills and said:

“It was imperative for us to find someone who could naturally embody the dialect, spirit, and rooted essence of the region. Medha impressed the team not just with her raw talent, but with her effortless command over the regional dialect and her emotional range as an actor. We truly believe she will bring depth and realism to the role."
