Varun Dhawan's Performance In 'Border 2' Gets Praised By Major Hoshiyar Dahiya's Son, Amid Trolling

Border 2 will be released in the theatres on January 23, 2026, and fans couldn't be any more excited. However, certain aspects of the film have already left fans disheartened, including Varun Dhawan's performance. However, while trolls have been bashing the actor for his performance, Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya's son has praised him for the role.

Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya's son praises Varun Dhawan for his role in Border 2

Ahead of Border 2's release, the makers of the film shared the Braves of the Soil- Tribute trailer, backed by the song, Mitti Ke Bete. The trailer unveiling was held in Mumbai, and the event was attended by Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty. However, it was Varun who had a heart-touching interaction with Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya's son. The actor, who has been trolled for his performance, received praise from the late Major's son for his portrayal.

During the event, Varun Dhawan invited Colonel Sushil Kumar Dahiya, the son of Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya, to say a few words about The Braves of the Soil – Tribute trailer. The late Major's son shared that Mitti Ke Bete is truly a tribute to every soldier, while the other song in the film vividly captures the sacrifice of their families. Colonel Dahiya said:

"Thank you, Varun. Especially when we all saw this song visually, Mitti Ke Bete is an inspiration in a true sense for every soldier, and Ghar Lautke Naa Aaye is a tribute to soldiers' family and their feelings, and that has been blatantly portrayed."

Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya's son, Colonel Sushil Kumar Dahiya, further praised Varun Dhawan's performance in Border 2. He shared that Varun has beautifully captured his father's role. Colonel Dahiya's comment comes at a time when the actor has been facing immense criticism for his acting, with many accusing him of 'overacting'. Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya's son was quoted as saying:

"And secondly, the character that Varun is playing is that of my father and the way he has portrayed it on the silver screen is mind-blowing."

Varun Dhawan hits back at the trolls

Varun Dhawan has been facing the heat of trolls since the release of the film's first song, Ghar Kab Aaoge, in December 2025. Now, during the recent event, he even hit back at trolls, saying that they will know what he has done on the film's release date. He was quoted as saying:

"I believe that you shut down the noise and just let your work do the talking. Yeh sab cheezein chalti rehti hai. It doesn't really matter. Main iske liye kaam karta hoon. Main jis cheeze k liye kaam karta hoon woh iss Friday ko pata chalega."

Border 2 is helmed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J. P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series Films and J. P. Films. The film is set against the backdrop of the India–Pakistan war of 1971. The film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty in lead roles, along with Mona Singh, Anya Singh, Medha Rana and Sonam Bajwa in key roles.
