Rajkummar is playing the role of prosecutor, Ujjwal Nikam and is totally in sync with his character. Well, Prahaar is all set to release on August 7, 2026, but who is Ujjwal Nikam, the subject of Prahaar?
Well, long before Ujjwal Nikam made a name for himself as one of India's most famous prosecutors, his career-defining moment came when he served as a special prosecutor in the trial of Ajmal Kasab. He was the only terrorist who was captured live post the 26/11 Mumbai Attacks. Ujjwal has been known for handling numerous high-profile criminal cases, and the trial of Ajmal Kasab defined his career.

Ujjwal Nikam was born on March 30, 1953, back in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, as Ujjwal Deorao Nikam. He came from a family that had a legal background. His dad was a judge and also a barrister and had taken up his career in law. Ujjwal, after completing his Bachelor of Science degree, took a law degree from SS Maniyar Law College located in Jalgaon. He had started off his legal profession journey reportedly as a district prosecutor. Ujjwal Nikam has received wide public recognition in India. He has been a veteran public prosecutor whose name became famous as he handled a lot of high-profile criminal cases and terrorist trials. Ujjwal's legal career has spanned more than three decades, and he has represented the state in cases like organised crime, rape, murder, terrorism and became one of the most important legal figures.

Well, over the years, Ujjwal Nikam created a reputation for handling a lot of difficult cases. During the 1991 Kalyan Bomb Blast, Ujjwal had secured the conviction of Ravinder Singh, which became a big turning point way too early in his career. When the 1993 serial blasts took place, he had led the 14-year-long prosecution, which had convicted 100 accused individuals under varied anti-terror laws. Ujjwal had also prosecuted highly prolific murder trials, which included T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar and politician, Pramod Mahajan. He had also led the prosecution for the Mumbai gang rape case, 2013 and the 2016 Kopardi rape and murder cases.

When the 2008 Mumbai Attacks took place, Ujjwal had represented the state during the trial of the lone surviving terrorist named, Ajmal Kasab. Well, among many cases that Ujjwal handled, his role in Ajmal's prosecution is widely known. Ajmal reportedly took the lives of more than 160 people and had shocked India. Ujjwal had led the legal proceedings against Ajmal and played a very important role in showing evidence against the terrorist. The trial was followed by the entire country of India and had become one of the most important terrorism related cases in the legal history of India.

According to social media reports, Prahaar will showcase the life of Ujjwal Nikam and will highlight his legal battle, when the nation wanted justice and faced one of the darkest moments, during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Fans have loved the teaser of Rajkummar Rao's Prahaar as the actor seemed to have rightly showcased the body language, command over the Marathi language, while depicting Ujjwal.

Fans, after watching the trailer, have already started talking about Ujjwal Nikam, and for Rajkummar, this seems to be one of the most challenging movies. Prahaar, has been directed by Avinash Arun and also has Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sikander Kher in important roles. The teaser of Prahaar has rightly shown Ujjwal as a man who hogged the headlines amid legal battles that were widely discussed in the country. Ujjwal Nikam's contribution to the legal field cannot be forgotten. It was in 2016 when he was awarded the Padma Shri for securing the conviction of Ajmal Kasab. It has been one of his most widely known achievements. Nikam has been a victory card for India.
