Who Is Rae Boyd? Aspiring Singer Makes Her Relationship With American Idol's Brooks Rosser Official

American Idol season 24 contestants, Brooks Rosser and Rae Boyd, are leading the spotlight after the duo officially confirmed that they are dating. The surprise revelation came after Brooks’ latest performance during the Top 9 episode. Post his performance, Rae came on stage and announced that they have been dating in real life. The hard launch came as a surprise to many.

Who is Rae Boyd?

An aspiring singer, Rae was one of the promising contestants on American Idol but got eliminated. A native of Frederick, Maryland, who now lives in Towson, Maryland, graduated from Walkersville High School. Rae is a talented singer who has been trying her luck for a full-time career in the music industry. Prior to her stint on American Idol, Rae worked in all sorts of odd places as a singer.

Rae Boyd’s American Idol audition happened by chance

Rae is a confident woman who never gets cold feet on stage, and this is because of her participation in various pageants, which helped her get comfortable performing. Rae used to perform at bars, restaurants and casinos before garnering the attention of an American Idol producer. It so happened that while singing at an empty bar at the Conrad Las Vegas in 2025, Rae was spotted by an American Idol producer.

Impressed by Rae’s confidence, the producer urged her to audition. Speaking about her life before American Idol, Rae told Frederick News:

“Before American Idol, I was just working so hard just for, like, something. I was just working in every restaurant, every bar, every casino, just to find someone to just discover me and who believed in me, and it happened.”

Rae Boyd’s revelation about dating Brooks Rosser

Rae Boyd and Brooks Rosser’s relationship was revealed live on stage during the April 20, 2026, episode of the reality show, American Idol. After Brooks completed his performance during the Top 9 episode, Rae came out on stage to make the big announcement that they’re a couple in real life.

After Rae came on stage and hugged Brooks, host Ryan asked her whether she wished to say anything. To this, she said, ‘Um, the princess is here to claim her prince.’ To this, Ryan added:

“Apparently, Rae said this is a hard launch for the two of you, so congratulations. You never know what comes out of American Idol.”

Brooks Rosser wished to be a soccer player, but music happened by chance

Brooks Rosser is one of the top 7 contestants on the sets of American Idol Season 24. The 22-year-old played soccer and wished to make a career in it. However, a broken back shattered his dream. It was during the COVID-19 pandemic that Brooks found his calling in music. It was during the pandemic that he started learning to sing, practising, and then realised he actually wanted to do the same. Music helped Brooks to cope with the reality that he could no longer play soccer. 

Apart from pursuing music, Brooks works in a dementia care facility. Brooks reportedly started working in the dementia care facility after witnessing his grandmother struggle with the disease. As he took care of his ailing grandmother, Brooks decided that he wanted to help people who were struggling with dementia. During his American Idol audition, Brooks shared that he was extremely close to his grandmother and that he used to play the guitar and sing for her when she was sick.
